Compatible SiriusXm connections
I'm trying to determine which type of male/female connector Kawasaki uses to connect their XM radio kits to their head units. Is it standardized for all metric motorcycle connections, or are they the same as say... Ford, or Mitsubishi audio plugs? Anyone have any ideas?
Not willing to pay $499 for their kit if I can substitute for $79 SiriusXM Tuner/Interface and make it work through the stock head unit and controls.

I am really hoping that someone can respond to you with a suggestion for this. As I also have a Sirius portable that I would love to take out of the car and transfer to the bike

Does your stereo have an aux plug?
I didn't want to pay $500 for the Harley kit for my bike, so I bought a portable XM radio and just connect it to my sound system with the aux input. The radio sits in a RAM mount and it works great.

I've been wondering the same thing. (Whether I can use a typical automotive antenna/receiver on our stock head units) I hope we can find a work around. - I wouldn't even mind the $500, IF it also included a year or two of pre-paid service.
CJ, In the past, I did the same thing to a car, but there's a lot to be said for simplicity and using the stock [built in] controls. - Our stock radios don't have an auxiliary input as a standard feature, but it can be added with the MP3 player, 3.5mm pigtail accessory that plugs in through the LH glove box.

Jay, That why I was asking him. I couldn't tell if he just wanted to listen to XM or if he expected to be able to control the radio from the handlebar controls. I would be really surprised is there is any way to control such a radio using the handlebar controls. I think he's going to have to pony up the five bills for the Kawasaki kit.

I haven't had luck with the FM connections. From area to area, I can't seem to find an FM station I can leave it on.

I found this old post where it was determined who makes the XM tuner, but I'm more curious about our head unit to be able to locate an adapter necessary to make automotive OE kits fit.
The post: "N-TOUCH http://www.radiosound.com/products.php these people are a holes i wanted to know the wiring out of the radio got this long letter back how there radio is proprietary and no info will be given so i contacted kaw teck support that know nothing about the radio" __________________

Yea. My idea is to use an automotive add-on XM tuner with an interface control, to be able use the handlebar controls and the XM ready capabilities of the stock head unit. It seems to me that it's just a matter of determining the correct plug connector to splice into the interface.
I've found some sites that sell metric motorcycle electrical plugs of all types, but I just haven't been able to narrow it down to the specific type needed, and I'm pretty sure the plug isn't proprietary to Kawasaki. If anyone has the CB or XM interface unit, perhaps you could take a little time to post some detailed photos of them so I can compare and figure a work around?

I too was going to add, if anyone can get a few pics posted, I might be able to help with the connectors. We use a multitude of them at my job and are quite stocked in the connector dept. Just depends on the needs.

Honestly, I'm more motivated to find a hack. $300 is a deal, compared to our current options. I just hope to find a solution for everyone.

Do you have a pic of the connection point. I'm not really looking to pull anything apart right now
