NCR: Labor Day Ride with Gibby...

Just finished my annual Labor Day ride in the Southwestern region of Wisconsin with Gibby. I think this is our third or fourth year of Gibby joining-in. We had a great time, great riding, and a lot of laughs.

This ride is one for those that like to ride all-day on as many difficult roads as you can find. That is my favorite type of riding, and apparently Gibby doesn't mind doing the same thing. In fact, I am the laggard between the two of us, and I thought I kept-up pretty well with the best of them.

My odometer said 720+ miles for the entire ride over 2.5 days. While the mileage may not seem all that much compared to when riding a straight slab for 2.5 days... it actually is a fair amount when you are riding mile after mile of twisted and winding roads. Certainly, that type of riding can be exhausting.

Weather was cloudy, but the temps remained comfortable for most of the trip.

We found a series of great roads within about a 100 square-mile area that were certainly some of the best Gibby and I have seen in that area.

I will put these roads together in a single looped route to ride again (soon I hope); that should make a great route that will burn-up a good portion of a morning's ride.

I hope others in the region were able to get out and ride some.

Ride safe everyone!

PS: Gibby, if you read this, I took P, Y, and S south again on my way home... couldn't resist.

Had a great time riding with Greg and Kendra this weekend. Don't let Greg b.s. anyone, he is one of the best large bike/spider riders around these parts Was the valley on S as beautiful this morning as it was yesterday? That route is definitely a keeper. Thanks for again including me in your Labor Day tradition Greg.

Greg and Mike,

Just got home from my Labor Day Loop. Three days and close to 1000 miles of some great mountain riding.

The sun was not the same as the moment we first burst through that valley... but the ride was every bit as sweet as you remember.

I'll put that route together and send it up to you in case you can every run that again sometime...

I checked my trip odometer tonight and I logged 865 miles last weekend, I will pass 10,000 miles on the new bike this coming weekend. Had new tires put on also.

I will. I may just put it on Google and send the link so you can get an idea. It would be a fairly long ride from your place though...

Oh yeah... and it was too bad you couldn't have joined us. We hit some great roads. While the best area we hit wouldn't take that long to ride it entirely, we found a few others that made it overall a great riding day.

I was going to make it to Antlers this year with you and Gibby, but my mother's 85th birthday is the 5th and family is coming-in from out of the woodwork... It would be a problem if I went...

Don't know what your schedule is like before Antlers, or ever after if the weather holds-out in October, but we should hook-up for a few miles. You could alwasy venture over here on a Friday night, stay over and we could get up early on a saturday and cover a lot of ground on a few of my day-rides, or two-day rides into Wisconsin. You are always welcome.
