You don't need to vacuum it out, just get most out by riding or siphon. Besides being easier to maneuver, there are a few vent hoses that might leak a bit if it has lots of gas in it and you are sloshing the tank around. I kink them and tape them just to be sure. Also there is no shut off valve for the main fuel line. Last time I took my tank off I had less than a 1/2 gallon in it and only had a few drips come out.

That was PRIME property Stan... hope it paid well for you...

I held a sizable 2nd mortgage on it. All in all it was the best investment I ever made.

Glad to hear that Stan...

Any idea what is going in that spot? A hint maybe... there are no signs and I haven't read anything. Just wondering.

All I know is that after dinking around for a year First Rockford Group finally closed the deal. My original buyer kept the building and property in the back. He made out as well as I did. A good deal for all involved.

What they are going to do with the property I haven't a clue other than it will be some sort of retail.

On my 08 Nomad i connected my power outlet to the aux wires in the head light bucket.

The tale continues. Get home today. A new crankcase breather is there with the cam tensioner extenders. I notice a small puddle of antifreeze under the bike. WTF I just tightened every hose clamp in the f*cking cooling system. I follow the trail up the rear cylinder into darkness.

Screw it, I've got extenders. I locktite the first one and let is sit to set up. Now I pump out the gas again and pull the tank by myself in less than 10 minutes. It's that once you do it thing. I loosen the clamp to the hose to the top of the rear cylinder. Reposition it a little bit and crank it down again. Clean up the antifreeze on the floor and go back to installing the rear tensioner without removing the exhaust pipe which was a PIA but but not as bad as dealing with an exhaust leak.

All goes well and I hear it adjust as I turn the crankshaft to the F position. The front tensioner is out in a few minutes, cleaned and has the Locktite applied and setting up as I write this. Also, the front tensioner was out of travel.

I will reinstall tomorrow and hopefully the floor will be dry and we will be on the road Saturday.

Also, FWIW the new extenders add 0.280" to the travel. To the decimal challenged that's well over a quarter inch.

You may have to replace the O rings on the tubes that go into the cylinder head, they have been known to cause small leaks. Or you can clean the area and fix it with good silicone sealer. The tank has to come off to get at the tubes .
