High idle?

Hi all, Newbie to the Nomad and the board. I bought a bike Friday and took it on a trip to KY on Saturday. I noticed the bike is idling too high much of the time at stops and parked. Then, after a few minutes, it will drop down to a nice lope. The seller said the computer was disconnected. Does that make sense to anyone? Is there a fuel injector command module or something? Does this sound like sticking open injectors. It does this hot or cold. Thanks, Shima

Cleaning the throttle bodies ought to help out.

The computer controls spark advance, mixture etc, I doubt it is totally disconnected. Perhaps a sensor is disconnected because he had trouble with it?
What year and are there any mods to the intake, fuel processor, etc?
As Jarad states, start with cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner and a toothbrush. Perhaps the butterfly is sticky.

If the computer (ECM) was disconnected, the bike would not start or run.

He was likely talking about a fuel module.

Check some of the sensors and make sure the wiring plugs are clean, sometimes they corrode and can play with the readings. And as mentioned clean the throttle body.

If that PC III is bad and was disconnected because it was get it off off the bike.

Next do as Jared said and clean the throttle body with carb cleaner and a brush, taking care to buy a brush that won't melt in carb cleaner.

After that tell us what the air filter housing is now, and what exhaust you have now.

AND if on hi test fuels you have PING.

Also if you clean the T body that this problem still remains or not. It might be a sticking open T plate, or it could be a vacuum leak.
