Risers for the Reckless Fairing.

Like many in this forum I purchased a Reckless fairing for my 2003 1500 Nomad. The fairing looks beautiful. I must say, for the price, it's a nice piece of work ... definitely worth it. The problem I have is with my Chuckster 2" risers. I'm 5'9 and really need the extra pullback but there is not enough space between the inner fairing and the risers, hence my dilemma. Is there a set of risers that will work with the Reckless fairing or would I be better off looking for different handlebars? I'm concerned with having to change controls, cables and lines to accommodate the new bars. Thanks

I installed Scootworks 4" PhatII risers on my '05 1600 Nad. The only problem I had was access to some radio control buttons. That wouldn't be an issue if I had known ahead of time and bought a radio with different controls configurations. I bought the radio before adding the risers. I didn't have to change any cables or lines. Not sure if the 1500 triple tree has a different geometry than my 1600. You might want to check this website http://www.scootworks.com/shop. A lot of folks here have installed these risers, I'm sure you'll get so good feedback

I would look into getting new bars.
I made my own bars . but if I had to do it allover again I would get a set of santee bars. they are just over $100.00 and you can get them in several different styles

I have the 11" Dresser Santee bars on my 03 1500 and Love them, I did have to get a new front brake line and I also run the wires thru the Handle bars for the cleaner look, a little time but worth it to me

On closer inspection, I'm not sure the Barons StarBars are a good fit for the 1500 Nomad. The stock bars measure 7" high, 33" wide with a 13 1/2" pullback. StarBars measure roughly 36" wide, 4" high, 12.5" pullback. I don't see an improvement there.

Farmer, are those the dresser "apes"? Not sure I want to go higher, just more pullback.

The stock bars are 8" tall. You can go to a 12" tall bar without having to swap any cables or lengthen any wiring. Don Myers (dmyers) made a set of custom bars for my Nomad that were about 12.5" tall and wider than stock. I didn't have to do anything but bolt them on and swap the controls from bar to bar.

My 06 Nomad came with 1" bar, 8" rise, 34 1/2" wide 14" pullback and 7" center.
After several variations I now have a 1" bar from a Royal Star Tour that's 8", 33", 16 1/2" and 8". It's attached with Phat II risers. I'd be happy with one more inch of pullback but I'd need new cables. My Reckless fairing 'fits' and the radio is easily accessible but I had to put felt furniture bumpers on the risers to keep the fairing and risers from banging up against each other every time I hit a bump.
The fairing is a great place to put a radio and speakers. But when we modify our Nomads to get more pullback we’re pulling the grips back away from the fairing. Result is it doesn’t give as much protection as others like Harley where your grips are close to the speakers. I like my ‘tunes’ sometimes so I have my fairing.
