Nothing against Harleys but make sure you ride one before you buy one. (Ride EVERYTHING before you buy ANYthing.) I rode a couple and was very underwhelmed. The RG air management was terrible although the EG was better. I felt cramped on both and that awesome Harley vibration just didn't do it for me. If you want a big V twin luxo barge, try a Victory. The Cross Country (which I think GIBBY has) is the more traditional looking Vic. The Vision is more comfortable with better air management but it's a love it or hate it look. (I happen to love it.) Like Victory says, "If you ride one, you'll buy one.". I guess it's true since I rode one and bought one (I pick it up Tuesday).

I like the HD RG, I haven't been impressed with most of the EG's I have tried. I
definately couldn't own a white/black one, I would be looking to stop for a steak
all the time. The Victory's have been Ok, but I haven't ridden one yet that makes
me want to buy one. I still am happy with my Nomad.

I rode the Ultra, Vision and Voyager before the RT. The Vision's luggage capacity is a lot smaller than it looks and the brakes weren't what I would call good for what the bike is supposed to be. Wooden and high effort. Other than those things, I think they make great bikes. Lots of suspension travel and the ride is good. With the list prices of the Voyager increasing, other options become more attractive. Who would have thought a Kawasaki would cost $20K american? I will disagree with one thing: Harley's shake at idle, but not at speed. The Voyager actually had more vibe at speed than the HD I rode, IMO.

Not sure what you are saying here Ponch, you saying Harleys shake at idle AND at speed?

I think he said HD's don't vibrate when he takes speed.

What I said was that the Voyager had vibe all the time, the HD just at idle. I thought it was fairly apparent for those that can read and comprehend.

I was surprised at how smooth the Harleys are off idle as well, Ive ridden a few and found them quite nice to ride, and they handle a lot better than the Nomads. They don't have near as much of that heavy feel to them.

Agreed. I couldn't believe the good low speed handling. I under why the police like them for traffic duty.

For what? I've been out of high school for over 32 years and I don't miss it. That said, I went to parochial school until the 8th grade. No union or political correctness there...

Hey smartypants, read this and tell me it means what you just said.
I will disagree with one thing: Harley's shake at idle, but not at speed.

it reads like you disagree Harleys don't shake at speed.

He said it shakes all the time, my experience is that it does not.

Harley's aren't the most technologically advanced bikes, but I think the brickbats they take are based on experiences from the past. Kind of like English made bikes and electronics, Lucas in particular. It's all funny and it's a stereotype that had basis in fact, but the modern versions of either bike work pretty damn well.
