The you dont have the right to an opinion or belief battle continues......
I guess they cant target Jews after Hilters example (yet) so they got to demonize someone to create a bad guy.

“The government can regulate discrimination in employment or against customers, but what the government cannot do is to punish someone for their words,” said Adam Schwartz, senior attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois. “When an alderman refuses to allow a business to open because its owner has expressed a viewpoint the government disagrees with, the government is practicing viewpoint discrimination.”

Wonder what he really believes.... seems to be flip flop on values.

Christian = Bad, Nation Of Islam (Farrakhn) = good......kind of looks like that to me anyway.

I live near this situation, and can tell you there is going to be a fire-storm over this issue.

Personally the alderman and the mayor of Chicago both were out of line in their statements and actions. Despite the "press" suggesting there is support of their view... the fact remains... there are a lot of people that feel they were dead-wrong.

Do I entirely agree with the CEO's statements? NO... but for government officials make public statements that basically are saying; "we are intolerant about your intolerance" is inexcusable by any measurement. And for any government official to block a person making statements regarding his religious belief from doing business is not right. This guy didn't say he was blocking the door from anyone coming to purchase their products. He simply said his beliefs about "gays" and how it does not fit with his beliefs.

Currently, the "alderman" is finding ways to not allow CF to open in his district by using "traffic-effect" studies. This is BS and some of the local Chicago press is all over it and complaining.

We are beginning to see our government over-reach itself... and it is going to get ugly before it gets better -- unless this attitude is changed soon by our politicians. Don't hold your breath though.

Oh yeah... by the way... the mayor of Chicago said nothing when Farrakhan went to the south-end of Chicago and spewed his racist BS. Was Farrakhan's BS representative of Chicago's diversity and tolerance? I don't think so. No sensible person would either.

We are witnessing an era where the citizens of the U.S. are so ignorant to the suppression they are being subjected to by their own government, and are soon to be helpless in defending themselves against it.

So, is the Mayor going to ask the Boy Scouts of American and the Catholic Church to leave town?? Their official stance is about the same a Chick. And, for the recored, I don't agree with them or Chick.

Here is the problem. The owner of Chick is being punished because he DID build his business with his own sweat and blood.

Have they acutually discriminated against someone who is gay or did a private citizen simply state what he feels?

The CF CEO is on tape stating his religious beliefs about marriage. Basically, he stated he was against gay-marriage.

Whether someone is or isn't for gay-marriage is not the point.

The point is how any government official can impose their beliefs onto others... as they are by blocking him from opening a store in a suburb.

As asked.... does this mean churches have to go? Do other organizations with their strong beliefs have to go?

This is complete BS... and has finally gotten out of hand around here.

looks like the other side of the coin is waking up..... Free Speech is not just limited to the ones who want to take it away from others....

The turn out around the KC area was on the news from the time they opened today at all the CF's.... lines out the doors, cars around the block and police having to direct traffic..... Kind of gives one hope for free speech and thought.

Kind of looking forward to see how the "Kiss off" goes for the other side Friday....
