Vance and Hines Baffles

I have V&H on the '06 Nomad and one of the baffles rattles inside the pipe. Has anyone experienced this before, and is there a recommended fix? The rattle is driving me nuts...

There is only two allen head bolts holding the baffles in, are the missing or loose? Its easy to check out. If the end of the baffle is too loose for the pipe you should be able to flare it out a bit to stop the rattle. Or pack more fiberglass around it.

Yep I've heard the rattle/chirping too. Remove the baffles! I just installed torque cones (works great) and will be ordering Ultimate Baffles very soon

Take screw out of baffle, place washer on screw and re-install, makes for a tighter connect, worked for me.

Appreciate all the input and info. I will check the screws for tightness and try the washer trick Idhthept mentioned first. I will also look on Chucksters site for the Ultimate Baffles..
Thanks again!!

I don't think the UBs are on Joes site. You'll have to email him about them.

There is a sound clip here somewhere were there is a comparison, also you tube should have one posted. They sound pretty good, a nice deep rumble.

Here is one of several that are on YouTube...but the videos don't really capture the true depth of the rumble. If you like loud...these are for you, as they have much more bad-ass attitude than stock V&H baffles.....

This one is one I made several years ago...I turned down my idle for the video just so you can hear the potato-putt sound...!

I heard Chris's UB's and they do sound good.

I used a bit of 2 methods mentioned, flare the baffle end some and added a split washer.

They've got to be extra loose to hear a rattle over the sound of the pipes.

You would think so but I could hear it right away and it was not that loose. It may be a stretch but I think you get tuned in to your bike. I had a Lexan lower crack and I could hear it on the left at higher speeds. I could also hear a loose lace whipping on my rack bag.

And I ride with 6 x 5 1/4" Polk Audios at good volume.

I don't know which YouTube vid Kris posted (can't see them from this location) but you want to search for "nascar2". He did a quick comparison of the V&H stock baffles, no baffles and Joes UBs. If you want to hear what V&Hs baffles cut in half sound like, let me know and I'll put them in next week and post a quick vid.
