Mobile 1 synthetic gear oil-
Changed out the final drive oil last night and I used Mobile 1 Synthetic 75w-90. Told a friend at work and he told me not to use it. I asked why and he responded "the mechanics at the local Ford dealer recommended not using it in the rear end of trucks. They said it is too thin and will not cushion the backlash between the ring and pinion." I told him there was several here on the forum that use it all the time and have many miles on their bikes.. I said it is rated APL-4 and it is 75w-90, so it didnt make any sense. There is probably a little difference between the bike final drive and a trucks...
Anyway, thought it to be an interesting conversation....

The Nomad calls for a gl 5 rating 80 or 90w, so this is pretty close and probably will be fine. The Ford F250hd for example calls for 75w-140, not even close nor is it the same animal.

I too use the Mobil 1 75W-90 full synthetic. It is rated GL5 which our bikes call for. No problems after 18,000 miles.

That's what I used on my last change. I'll use it again.
I think it's a little hard to compare a motorcycle gear box to that of a Ford truck. They are 2 completely different things. Now, if a motorcycle mechanic had stated that, then I may think about it a little more. With all the gear heads on here that use it, I think your pretty safe with it.

Thanks for all the input. I feel like I made a good move by using the Mobile 1. I appologize stating APL-4, should have been GL5
