I run them at 42 psi and the tires are usually ok for most of their life, but I do notice some cupping near the end.

I guess "you get what you pay for" applies to motorcycle tires. Who knew?

I run the ME 880's at 40 psi. Prior owner had 32 per the manual and they cupped and had that hum/vibration. New tire and higher pressure and I haven't had any issue.

Got a 2001 Nad, a Bridgy on the front (only 10,000k and in good nic) and has made the "noise" for ever. Had the front/head bearings checked.....all good, so I live with it.
Cheers

Aeropilot, do you run 40 psi in both the front and rear tires?

I would lean heavily toward the tire.......probably the rear tire (as someone else suggested too) since the front is new.

How old is the rear tire?

I had a noise in the turns that I would have bet the farm was coming from the front of the bike but my front tire looked fine. My rear tire needed replacing anyhow so I went ahead and replaced it and it got rid of the noise in the front......weird.

Do yourself a favour..get rid of Metzlers! Put Avon cobra radials on..best bike tires for the Nomad out there IMO.
I needed a new front tire several years ago and my only choice was a metzler. I ran it for about 500 miles..then when I had choices, I tossed it and got the avons..never had any more problems.

I have the 05 Nomad and this is just normal for these bikes. I have talked to several others and gone through the services and checkes. Bike is in perfect shape but still has that little noise/vibration (it is more of a feel than a noise) but have put 35,000 miles on the bike with no issues and love the bike. I might be happy if it didn't do that, but can live with it.

You were correct, it was the rear tire ! and I would have bet the bank on the noise being in front. put a General Altimax HP on. :)

A lot of things can cause a problem that is nowhere related to where you may think the problem is. My bike once started having a noticeable clunk while shifting, it turned out to be the U joint that went bad.

Starvy40. I too would have bet the bank it was my front tire that was causing my noise. So much so that I replaced it and the noise was still there !!! It was the rear tire that had plenty of tread. After that was replaced the noise was gone.
