Greg, what kind of mileage do you get on the Spyder? I am just curious.

Depending on the my speed, whether I use the cruise-control, whether you use high or low octane (higher is better), and the terrain ridden -- the mileage goes from a measly 25 MPG to just above 30 MPG. These are 998cc v-twin engines that run at high-revs. These engines run best above 4,000 RPM's and most often you'll be at 5,000+ at anytime when cruising. (It takes a bit to get used to hearing the motor running that fast compared to a Nomad or other v-twins.) One thing that helps lengthen the time between gas-stops is that it has a 6+ gallon tank, so stopping for fuel isn't any sooner than most bikes -- besides, by a tank-full, I am usually more than ready to stop for a bit. There are after-market performance-kits that are now being sold for Spyders that increases the mileage while also increasing the power. (I know, that doesn't sound right; but that is what they are claiming.)

The "performance" kits are for the Spyders... not for the riders!
