If I had any desire to own that style of bike, that or the St1300 would be my choice. They are nice bikes. One of the local police departments here (Mesa, I think) uses them.

Concours is an awesome bike! The newer ones especially.

I have ridden a Concours, FJR, and an ST1300. I prefer them in the order I just wrote them.

I haven't been on one in awhile, but I found that with bar risers it made a great ride. Top heavy and powerful enough. It's always very well liked by the people I have met that own them. Kawasaki for years didn't change them, for a reason. I thought it was exceptionable. If I hadn't wanted the Nomad more, I would have bought a Concours.

Connie's are nice bikes. If you get it, I might suggest you join the COG group at www.cog-online.org.

If I was a sport-touring kinda guy (way too old and creaky for one), I'd probably choose the Concours. Almost bought one years ago. My knees just won't tolerate one, though. Not quite ponch's Beemer territory, but very nice, nonetheless.

Nice, reliable bikes that handle well. Lots of internet support for them too. Seriously considered them b4 I got my Nomad.

I had a C10 Connnie (2006). Great bike. Fantastic weather protection. Corners well. Fast up to 6500 rpm, then it turn into an asphalt ripping monster. 50 mpg. Great saddelbags. Negatives: you get pressure on your forearms and the vibration from the in-line 4 puts your hands to sleep, so you have to use a throttle lock and get your hands off the bars now and then on long days. It tends to dive a bit on hard braking, and it really dances in cross winds and truck wakes. Oil filter is a pain to change because you have to take some of the tupperware of to get at it. But an great bike. I didn't sell mine, a person turned left in front of me and it was totaled. Otherwise I might still be riding it and would not have gotten my Nomad.

For comparison, I now have a ST1300. It is hands down the better bike. Faster, more stable, moveable windscreen, 50 mpg, corners better, doesn't dive with hard braking, no vibration, better seat, etc. But that doesn't mean the Connie was bad, just that the ST is better. But you aren't looking at a used ST.

Both are fantastic bikes. The Connie is a blast to ride and you'll be astounded at the acceleration compared the Nomad. The surge at 6500 rpms makes you feel like you are riding a lightening bolt.

I'd go for it. They are very nice bikes and easy to work on too. They are more tour than sport but if you don't mind not exceeding 150mph they are quite competent. I enjoyed my '94 and it sounds like a very good price on the one you are looking at.

I had a 2000 and my wife had a 1999. We loved those bikes. Never a problem, fast, quick, smooth. Passing a car or truck... well it takes you longer to think about it then to do it! Go for it, great toy.

I have had both old and new generation Connies. They are great bikes. The old ones are bullet proof and though heavy handle well if ya know how to muscle them. There's a reason kawi didn't change that bike for like 20 years. It works!!!!!! Plus there's lots of aftermarket stuff fore them and their stock seats are really comfortable. Get it!!!

I have one sitting in my garage right now. Okay, it's a friend's. He loves it. I've ridden it. As Coach said, it's a rocket, but not the style bike for me. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

My brother had three of them, used them for both pleasure business travel and took them up to 50k miles in two years each, narry a problem and they came with 3 years "unlimited" mileage warranty so he was always under warranty coverage. He is about 6'1" and he put on a larger windshield and bar risers other wise he said his neck and shoulders would hurt a little on 600 mile days. He bought them until the new ones came out, although the new one is overall a better bike it was not worth and extra $5000. for it to him. They tend to be a good used bike purchase as they appealed to riders with the propensity to keep them well maintained.
