Bucket List, One Down

Have waited 39 years to chalk off probably the number 1 thing to do on my bucket list. Found out about 3 months ago that Don Williams would be performing tonight in Pigeon Forge, TN. Ordered tickets about 2 months ago and got some of the last tickets available. The concert was a sellout.

Don came on stage at 8 PM and performed song after song until 9:20 PM. What a great show. Well worth the wait of 39 years. If there was an empty seat in the theater I don't know where it was. One of the most enjoyable nights of my life.

He is still wearing the same style Stetson. Stetson makes them special for him. It was really great to be able to see him perform live.

A couple of short stories about his Stetson hat. One, he was performing at a concert and I think it was Chattanooga, TN and someone stole his hat right off his head. With Don Standing 6' 4" that wouldn't have been a good idea had it not been real crowded. The guy was able to escape. After that Stetson started making that particular hat just for Don.

Story two, On a radio interview someone mentioned him wearing the hat. He said he wore it so much that he had even found himself starting to get in the shower completely naked except that he had forgotten to take his hat off.

I know what you mean Gene. I got front row seats to The Eagles concert a couple of years ago and was one of the most wonderful nights I've had! They played for hours and hadn't missed a beat in 20 years!!! No don't ask what those tickets costs...DON'T!!

Gene, glad you are 1 down, keep going buddy. ;)

I would have loved to have seen Stevie Ray Vaugh live.
I've seen him on Austin City Limits.

Hey Bill, do a Google search of Don Williams. 17 number 1 country songs. Just elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

That's funny you mentioned Don Williams and Bucket List. Next Saturday I too, get to cross off a Bucket List item that I've been waiting over 30 years to see. I'm riding over to Baltimore, MD to see John Prine, in concert.

Every so often I would check to see when / where he was playing. He usually wasn't playing around me, or if he was, had passed through months before and I missed him again. It was like a cat and mouse game.

Bought tickets about two months ago, packing up and taking some time off next Thursday, heading to Washington, DC first then back to Maryland for the concert. Pretty excited.

Awesome, I love Don Williams's music! My friends jokingly make fun of me for liking his music because he's "old country music," but it's what my grandparents listened to all the time when I was little. Some of my best childhood memories are playing cards with my grandpa while listening to Don Williams and Marty Robbins records.
I've never seen Don play live in concert, but I would love to go if he ever gets close to here. I'll have to check his website for dates.

Bull Durham, glad you are going to get to see John Prine. Always a good thing when everything works out.

PrairieCruiser, it is best to just do a search of Don Williams concerts. I know he is playing out west a little later. He did Canada earlier in the year. Not sure about North Dakota but I will check and see if he is going to be near.
