I don't know why anyone would bid that high on a 99. If it was loaded with accessories that would help justify the price.

And I don't think Kawasaki covers the POG anymore.

They do not cover the POG anymore as I asked about it when I found out that they came with them. Had them run my numbers to see if it was ever replaced which came up blank and was told they no longer did the gear swap under warranty. Mine now sports a JOG gear. It has done almost 3000 miles since it was installed and the peace of mind is priceless.

I think a lot of it depends on where you're at too. Here in Arizona 99's routinely sell for $4000. I paid $3900 for mine with 5,230 miles on the odo. It's loaded with accessories including aftermarket pipes and just about every fire and steel component, but that's still a lot of money for a 12 year old bike even with the low mileage. Also had a couple issues that the others eluded to such as dried up seals, tires, battery etc. but easily and inexpensively rectified. I'll have to do the JOG thing here this winter too. Granted fuel injection and a SOG would've been nice, but over all, I'm real happy with mine and don't regret the purchase at all.

Doubled the mileage within a couple months of purchase and look forward to putting a bunch more on it as soon as it cools down some.

If you think Arizona prices are high, check this one out. 2001 Kawasaki Nomad with 70,000 miles on the odo selling for (or trying to anyway) $10,499

Holy Crap! If someone offered me that much money for my '01, I would sell it and buy an '08 and still have some money to play with.

This is the time of year to replace the POG, since it sounds like you aren't riding anyway. That way you can ride in the "winter".

I'd agree, but I have to do it in a garage that hovers in the 115 degree range (no a/c in the shop). Too hot for me. I get real pissy when things don't go right in that kind of heat. I'd much rather wait until it's comfortable.

Damn i am so going to put mine up for sale if a 99 goes for that price. I have pretty much every bit of chrome and after market item i could think of to add and not much into the bike over that selling price.

Side note, if you have a chrome water pump cover lets make a deal its the only one I can think of i am missing.
