Riding the Alaska Hwy

This probably has been asked before, here goes. My brother and I are discussing riding up the Alaska Hwy, then possibly back down Hwy 37 through BC, then Hwy 16 back east to Edmonton area. I ride an 07 Vulcan Nomad and pull an American Legend trailer, and am not sure what the road conditions would be like. Can anybody give me any information on this trip , and possible precautions to take . It would be appreciated

Riding the Alaska Hwy

That's a trip I hope to one day make.

I read a lot on http://www.advrider.com/ It has some GREAT trip reports, although I don't remember seeing one where someone pulled a trailer.

Although imo that site leans towards dual purpose bikes it is a fountain of information regarding trips.

Best of luck to you

I have driven as far as whitehorse with truck and camper. From Dawson Creek the highway is good, paved all the way with a bit of seal coating in places.Highway 37 had a stretch of gravel by the Stikine river bridge,I think around 20 kms.Done the drive twice with truck and camper but would love to do it on a motorcycle.

Riding the Alaska Hwy

Ex-Governor Bob Riley of Alabama just had a crash up in Alaska about a month back. Several broken ribs and other damage. Roads aren't what they should be as the roads are what caused his accident. He said, "had to lay the bike down". We all know the bike laid him down. He probably had read somewhere about people laying a bike down and he thought he would say that.
