OT: Need Gold wing info (not mine)

I need a Honda Gold wing site with a tech head.

The guy next door a buddy of mine with MS, rides a Honda Wing Trike. He can no longer use his legs at all anymore, not even enough to step on his rear brake pedal this Spring.

I am un-familar and need a little tech advice. I am not sure what year it is, but it is before ABS.

The ft brakes are duel calipers just like a Nomad. The rear are drum brakes.

I am looking to find out if there is a duel master I can tie the rear brakes too.

Mainly I need a top notch Honda site for wings, to learn what I can get and how things are in general. The blasted wings have bloody covers all over every thing.

And or if it ends as a single master to both sets of wheels, which is a little hairy IMO, will the ft brake master create enough pressure to run both brakes? I am no engineer.

AND OR come up with a 2 lever system, where the rear brake lever is mounted over the ft brake lever.

Leaving the ft brake lever longer thgen the rr brake.

From the rear brake lever run a cable to a bell crank to stuff a rod into the rear brake master.

That way you can select which lever(s), and so select which brake, or both. The rear master still works in this senario.

No help with the Honda, but wondering if you could put a thumb brake on the right handlebar? Maybe you could use a thumb throttle off a snow machine or a ATV?

Man, look at this!

http://cycletramp.com/motorcycle-par...cycle-air-ride

I did a search for disabled motorcycle riders, there's several sites. I met a one armed rider one time and never looked at his bike. At the time I thought it to be rude, but maybe he would have been glad to share the story with me.

Hope that helps!

They are proud of their rides so I think he would have enjoyed it.

GWRRA use to be a great place for resource info but now they only allow members on their board. Maybe you neighbor wouldn't mind joining.

When I had my Goldwing, JBJ Cycles in Santa Ana did all my services. They specialist in Goldwings. Maybe they could answer you questions.

Sure hope you can come up with something to help him out Mac. It is a great thing you will be doing. There are some great links here that should be able to give you some ideas.

Perhaps you could adapt some parts from a bike that has a dual brake system and just install it on the Wing.

Thanks I need to see these links, but that may add to my educashuns

Last year Gordon and I made him a wheelchair lift. It cams the chair up on the back of the trike.

The most important idea was that the cam should be pushed against to lift, as Dennis can use his arms and lock his legs, so pushing across the bike is a direction he can do.

Dennis owns the trike, and he was like a nervous chicken having me drive it over here. He kept saying Mac ya gotta steer it , it won't lean.......

The last he saw of me was leaning off the boards going around a curve in his driveway. I was riding it like you do a snowmobile. It didn't do anything but upset Dennis more, but I think doing that is a hell of a lotta fun

Man does he get pissed at me sometimes. On the other hand he trusts me with his legs and sometimes helping him do things no other man alive would be privy too.

It really sucks he can't use his right leg at all anymore. MS is a hellish disease.

Great Links.

I has a 1984 Aspencade, The foot peddle was linked to both the rear and one of the front disk. The hand lever was only for the other front disk.

Mac,

Did you already rig up something for him to shift the bike, by hand levers?

I saw a bike once in a parking lot, one of those old Honda-matics that had rigged up on the side a flat platform where the guy wheeled up his wheelchair, locked it in. Then he had a set of handlebars rigged up to the bike with levers on it so he drove it from the right side, kind of like a side car position.

I didn't meet the guy, but was damn proud of him that he wasn't letting his disability stop him from something he enjoyed.

And you're right, MS is a horrible thing.
