I've got a 2008 Nomad with V&H Baggers and K&N Air Filter. I average 36 MPG.

Don't be sorry. Not every one can step up to a Harley. Work at it and you too will be there one day. :)

Stock everything 2005. Just checked it this morning...40.4MPG. I assume having all the additional "stuff" added to your engine will decrease your mileage.

Dialing in an aftermarket fuel processor and getting good mileage is a balancing act. It's only taken me over 2 years to eliminate the ping and stil be able to squeeze 41mpg's on the highway. However, anything over 35 is pretty much normal.

What year is your Nomad?, if it's a 1500 (they have smaller tanks than the 1600s), 140 miles is about average on a tank before you need to fuel up. I have an '05 1600, V&H exhaust with UBs, TFI fuel processor, and Thunder stealth air kit. I average a consistent 42~44 MPG.

I was able to always get at least 180 miles on a tank, unless it was winter. My light doesn't even come on until about 140-150 miles.

The important thing is to accurately check your MPG's. I am getting 37 to 38 with some local and some road riding. I get 41 to 42 on the road. I usually fill up at around 140 to 160. The '08 has a 5.3 gallon tank. I would think your tank is the same since it is an '06.

I have an open K&N, Vance and Hines w/ Ultimate Baffle, and a TFI. If I'm cruising a 60 I can get 45 MPG. If I'm cruising at 85 it drops to 35. How agressive are you riding.

I've never run out of gas, but I have run my bike to 196 miles before filling. I imagine I was within 10 of walking.

I made a 204 mile ride once without stopping for gas. I never went above 50, short shifted on take-off, and didn't downshift coming to stops.

I had an issue that made me not want to stop.

That's an 03 1500 with the 5.0 gallon FI tank.

I don't want to do it again, the last 10 miles was nerve racking.

On the highway my light comes on around 120-125, that's at 75-80 mph.

Like Jared kinda said: It depends on your right wrist.

Also depends upon the headwinds. Last week I had my worst mileage ever. Cruising 70 acutal down the interstate bucking a 35 to 40+ mph headwind. Had 100.4 miles on the odometer and it took 4.3 gallons. Ouch.

Welcome. Does your keyboard have a caps lock key? If so, turn it off. All caps is considered shouting.
