Comparison between Vaquero and Road Glide

That seemed to be a fairly-balanced assessment of the two bikes on the surface; but I would really like to read a review from a source that doesn't have to take advertisement dollars from those they review.

Typically, the hard-core complaints are muted in magazine reviews such as this.

However, I think Kawa is giving HD a good run for the money with this addition to their lineup. ;)

It sounded like a very polite review of both bikes. And the Road Glide had the upgraded engine, and carried an $4500.00 price difference. Thats a big difference for a comparable bike.

I wonder how much of that difference is because HD are assembled in Illinois?

I'm sure labor cost have got to be many times more than in Japan. Plus the union extortion and all the additional taxes and EPA B.S. in that state.

I've heard Illinois "almost" makes California look conservative.

Thanks for posting. I also read the review on the 2010 Voyager. I HAVE GOT TO GET ME ONE OF THESE! I have shopped them in our area and have found a number of 2010 models new at the dealer, with ABS for as low as $14999.00 Keep thinking if I walk in with a wad of $100's might be able to drive out for 14K even. It sure is testing the limits of my willpower.

$14,999 is a steal for a Voyager. I wouldn't have to think very long. Glad they aren't selling them that cheap over here. I might have to pull the trigger.

I wonder about their math. The difference in the "as tested" prices, according to my calculator is $5650.00 I can buy a lot of black T-Shirts for that kind of coin...

Dave, I thought HD's are assembled in Wisconsin. Headquarters in Milwaukee.

Good review of both bikes. For the difference in dollars would have to go with the Vaquero.

If labor costs are many times more than in Japan, why are car companies like Toyota and Honda building cars in the U.S.?

I think you're letting your political views color your perception.

Comparison between Vaquero and Road Glide

Wow, huge price differences between US and Canada. I was just at the motorcycle show here in Edmonton in January and got the up to date price list for the 2011's and the Road Glide is $20,999 which is the same price as the Vaquero. Given the same price point I would lean heavily towards the Road Glide as I have always really liked this bike and have quite a few hours in the saddle on it. I will try out the Vaquero in the spring, my local dealer said I could take it out for a couple of hours once the roads and weather are good.

Was that for the 103ci or 96ci motor?

The price I quoted was for the Touring Road GlideĀ® Custom 96ci for the Touring Road GlideĀ® Ultra 103ci the price is $24,889. As well, this price is for the black models (no colour) colour = more$$.

That was a VERY interesting article, and a good read. I just wish that since they evaluated the Vaquero as it comes standard, they would have used the RG as it comes standard.
