Thinking my house just got scouted

Had the same thing happen only he was selling "whole house carpet cleaning".
He pushed past my wife at the door to check out the carpet.
I backed him out of the house with my 9mm against his chest. He never saw it coming, I think he crapped his pants.

I wonder if he had a carpet sample to clean up with.

this is just how the kirby people get there foot in the door so to speak.they use the same tissue ploy here.when i was in my 20's and unemployed i sold kirby's for awhile and offered a free set of steak knives in return for the oppurtunity to demonstrate
the vacum.can't imagine what you guys would do if you were approached by a young kid with knives these days.

From what I've heard from this group, it would be: Shoot first, steak second.

Kioti, this vacuum salesman will tell this story for the rest of his life.;D Even if he gave up door to door sales. If he's still selling vacuums or anything door to door, I'd bet my life his demeanor is not so aggressive.

Thinking my house just got scouted

My unemployed 19 year old just went thru this. He thought he was applying to a company that does outdoor advertising signs and was hired thinking he was going to learn low voltage wiring. They promised him 5 bills a week. He was all excited but I asked how this could be as they only spoke to him for 10 minutes and hired him? He was convinced and determined to report for work the next day. I dug into the websites and names he was given and I keep running into vacuum sales. Told the lad of this but he went there the following day only to learn it was in fact a commission sales job selling Kirby vacuums. He was also told the starting price of the bottom line vacuum was $1000! This is some shady, cruel sh*t, really deflated my kid but he learned something.

If they advertised vacuum sales [ door to door ] no one would show up. If your son was interested in sales of any kind, a job like that, for a week or two, would season him for the future.

Unfortunately, there are some a**holes in our world. They probably sell alarm systems, and were drumming up sales. But the chicken with ex-lax is over the top.

Would be too bad if they caught that bunch and gave them some brownies (with Ex-lax) then sic the dog on them while they were incapacitated

I know it's "the way" for some of you to have a gun at hand to "settle things" and I'm not against that in the slightest. As a Canadian I haven't been brought up with that and it all seems a little
"over the top". Although I think I would have something close "at hand" if the laws were different up here. If I'm provoked I will respond for sure, anyway I need to.
Anybody know what the gun laws are in WA.? Do you need to be an American citizen to purchase a hand gun?
I have a place in the bush, {the place is gated mind you} and have gotten antsy at times.

At the risk of going off on a tangent here, Ricky - I know many of your fellow countrymen like to hunt. In Canada can you own rifles but not pistols?

Mitch could probably answer your question regarding citizenship to buy a handgun in the USA.

Mitch could probably answer your question regarding citizenship to buy a handgun in the USA.
In Ontario you can get a permit (FAC) to own rifles, shotguns , etc. Very few have a permit for a pistol that are not with law enforcement or some private security firms. Any pistols have to be in LOCKED compartments for transport to a gun range and home to locked storage. In-fact most have a predetermined route to and from the gun range they travel. Due to the regulations again, it is uncommon for many to do this or own them other than collectors who normally make them inoperable for show, similar to antique guns (also becoming very rare) where they are permanently altered to make them so they will not fire. There is no concealed weapons carried LEGALLY unless they are government agents here.
Buying a gun in the US? Not sure but without dual citizenship and a US address what address would be put on the application? Don't you have to wait 7-10 days for the paperwork to come back to the gun dealer? Isn't that part of a criminal record check? Which is done in the US, so if you were a non citizen how would they check you? Or is that a separate search by your home country as long as they were willing to give another country that information? Personally I'd think NO? But not sure on that one?

Having just bought a handgun in the past week, the FBI records check is instantaneous, unless they return a "delayed" status which means they can't immediately give an answer and gives them a few days to do so. My application was delayed and the dealer called me back later the same day and said "come pick up your handgun". Typically there is no compulsory waiting period to purchase a gun in the USA.
