Strange Hose

I must be getting old. I thought I posted this question earlier but can't find it, so here goes.

I bought my bike with a hypercharger already installed. There is what apears to be a vacuum hose near the front cylinder hanging loosely (see attachment). Does anyone have a hypercharger who can shed some light on this for me?

Thanks in advance.

It looks like the hose that returns the oil vapours to the stock air filter backing plate. You can leave it as is. If it does happen to be a vacumm line, Id put a plug in it. You can tell if it has vacumm by putting your finger over it with the motor running. If you feel suction, its a vacumm line.

Thanks Ring. I haven't checked it for vacuum yet. I'm thinking of going to a stock cleaner so I can get to the brake easier anyway. I was just wondering if there might be any issue with leaving it as is.

If it was a vacuum hose, your bike wouldn't be running very well.

If you do decide to go stock I have a complete backing plate with all of the hoses and wires. Just the right side though.

I beleive it should go onto the back of the hypercharger there should be a nipple on the back for it I think I have the same air cleaner on mine.

attached are installation instructions for your Hypercharger. You'll need adobe to read it.

whoops, hit enter too soon

Step 13 The large fresh air hose (biggest diameter hose) will be left open — tuck it out of
sight

this is the hose you were asking about.

Also, if you like the charger or just don't want to spend $150 to replace something that itself cost $250 just put 1 inch extenders on your right running board and space your foot brake out 1/2 inch.

Cost less than $5 to do the whole thing. Drop me a note if you are interested and I can give you the how too info

Thanks all for the info. Trosco, I think I might try your idea. I got the instructions earlier but did not notice where it might go. Can you give me more on how to extended the floorboard out a bit? I also plan on swapping the pedal for a Drifter which should help. Thanks again everybody.

What ever you do DO NOT Cap OFF that HOSE. You may add a filter to it if you wish, but DO NOT STOP that Hose up tight! it IS the engine breather hose, and if you oplug it off tight you will blow ever oil seal there is on the engine.

Just a word of advise if you look at pict#4 in the kuryakn install guide see the two support brakets on each side with the two bolts I would strongly suggest using you old brackets from your stock air cleaner they have bushings in them as for the ones thatcome with the kuryakn filter dont both of mine broke and almost broke the throttle body I just cut the ones off my old bracket and have had no problems. Just a thought if you have any ?? send me a pm and I will giveyou a hand the throttle bodys are not cheap.

Sorry I haven't got you the info, holiday rush bit me in the a** and I haven't stopped runing.
There are 2 bolts under the fold up part of the running boad that secure the whole assembly to the bike frame. take those two out and go get 2 replacements that are 1 - 1 1/2 inches longer than stock ones. Get the hi tensil strength bolts cause you torque them to 50 FT lbs when you put them back on. Some people use 1/2 in OD black pipe for the extensions. I used a big block chevy valve guide that I cut in half then squared up the ends. You want some real metal in your spacers and you want the ID snug to the bolts. You put the bolts through the holes in the board then through the spacers and into the frame. When you do this you'll notice that part of the brake pedal and master cylinder move with board while other part and hose is hooked to bike. Just watch that you don't bind anything or strecth hose to much. I had to loosen hose and camps to get a little slack. It's a real easy thing to do as is the whole deal. Once all sets the way you want, torque to 50lbs
