Darkside tires

Just a suggestion cocheese, drop 2# at a time rather than one big drop. You only had 50 miles on the tire when you posted this morning so dropping to 30 this soon may be a little premature. Give the tire a chance to break in for 2 or 300 miles with the higher pressure and then start working it down slowly. I had dropped to 26 psi and rode it there for a couple of thousand miles. I found myself dragging the pipes too frequently so moved the pressure back up to 29 psi. It handles just as good at 29 as it did at 26 and I can lean a little more than I could before. Just a suggestion, it all worked good for me.

Don't not yet.... I run 36 psi as std for me and have not worn the tire unevenly yet...... I put the tire on at OD 9,000, and have 18,700 today. last time i checked tread i had 7/32nds of 10/32nds. And will be foreced to raide all next year I guess with this Sp5000, since it is not wearing out with any 36 psi.

To bad you didn't check balance with the axel and 2 jack stands.

I didn't either but I was excited. I dumped in 2 oz of beads and it seems as good today as it did back then.

I did smarten up on the ft and it has 0 beads and 0 weights.

Well dynabeads should be in on Tuesday. I am hoping to get them in with the wheel on the bike. That's why I didn't waste time with the jacks. What are you referring to with smartening up on the front? Do you feel like the beads or weights are not needed? I have put 200 miles on it so far, and it rides fine to me with nothing.

Does the darkside help with MPG? This tank was my best yet at about 40+ mpg (first few were at about 32.5mpg). Although it has been getting better since I bought it, used about 5-7 tanks of gas so far. Maybe the bike sat for a while at the dealer and needed some good gas run through it. Only other thing I did was pound out the baffles in the muffler. Bike was pinging under load when in too high a gear, and that is now gone as well. Overall bike getting better each week. Poured in 5oz of Seafoam tonight, so will see what that does.

It could be that your aren't twisting the throttle as hard with the car tire. My mileage stays between 37 and 42, more so 38 mpg with the CT, TFI, and V & H pipes.

There are a few 1500's here with car tires, and you can check the links on the tech boards about darkside tires, that will help you make a decision.

Dunlop SP5000
195/60R/16
Installed it myself with DynaBeads last month, I've put about 3,000 miles on it with no problems.
It took one trip through the Dragon to get use to any handling differences.
www.tirerack.com. Don't remember, but I think around $125.

I'm looking at a Goodyear Tripletread 205/60-16 for my 2006 VN1600G6F. Looking for better wet/stopping for my Puget Sound comute. Also looking to partialy correct the almost 10% off on the speedo with the stock tire. Couple of questions. . . Will this tire require modification of the swing arm? Any suggestions for the front tire? Dyna-Beads?

No, it won't require any modification, but there will be about 2 credit cards thickness between the tire and the swingarm. That's as wide a tire as you can put on the 1600. I have yet to hear of any rubbing or other problems from running a 205 car tire, just know that it will be tight.

I highly suggest Dynabeads to balance any tire on a motorcycle.

Mark, You can find out all you need to know about the GY TT from Jesse. He's been having one on his 1600 for several months now. Send him a PM. He'll be glad to help you out with any questions you might have.
