Sometimes there isn't one, just install it the proper tire rotation and balance it. Once balance it won't make a difference. The dot is just a reference point for the lighter side of the tire,if there is one.

Here's yo hep...
I contacted Avon about the lack of a yellow mark on my Cobra. They told me that their tires are balanced and just to install it in any position.

Perfect huh?
Might be, my dunlop ft seems to be.. With the tire on the wheel stuff the axel in, and set the wheel level off the ground and see if it stops at all random, from a little spin.. if it is ALL random it is good....

Man!!! I don't know what happened, but I replied a "Thanks Fellahs" around three o'clock, and it disappeared into the either net. And then I had to go to work. I appreciate the information and I'd rather get it here any day than call a tech line. :)
I'm putting on new tires fore and aft. Cobra on the front and a 205/60-16 Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread on the rear. I'll be back on the Darkside again. I sure did miss it. I'm going to grease the neck, and the swing arm, and the drive shaft while I'm in this deep.

avon is my tire of choice on all my bikes. they don't have dots and they aren't balanced from avon. they will still have to be balanced. never had one very close on the balance. they really do need to put a dot on them. other than that they are a hard tire to top. great wearing and handling tire.

I've got Avon Cobras, too.
Suggestion: point the valve stem to the right side of the bike when you put your tires on. It makes it a LOT easier to check the tire pressure and to add air.

Thanks guys. Yeah, ideas like turning the valve stem to the right and greasing steering bearings make good horse since to us,and somehow it's beyond Makaw. Thats OK, if she'll build a nice bike for a reasonable price, I more than happy to finish it.
Avons are good tyres. I'm gonna toss a couple hand fulls of dyner beads in there to make sure she's good and balanced.

+1 dan, I did the same sure helps. I've had Avon Cobras for a few thousand miles now and they are alot better than Stoners. They did take some weights to balance them.
