Suggestions on new clutches & springs

My 99 Nomad has 31K and I am thinking of replacing clutches and springs before I start taking long rides this summer, so here is the question that I am sure to get some good input on, should I use OEM Kawasaki parts or after market? I found brands like Barnett, EBC and Vesrah. I mostly ride with the misses with me and I am putting together a tow trailer for added packing and more bottles of wine to bring home from our Northern Michigan annual wine touring.

So give me your best input so I buy the right parts and enjoy the ride...Thanks

I don't think you will need to change the clutch plates at all, just the spring, Id use either the Meanstreak spring or as CJ did, with a Barnett spring. Id also install the Judges washers. I did this and really like the positive feel of the clutch afterwards. You can measure the thickness of the clutch plates to make sure they are ok. Gadgets sight has detailed info on installing a new spring.

+1 with Ringadingh. When I had my 01 1500 classic, the clutch seemed to be starting to slip at about 28,00 miles. I was going to change the clutch with a Barnett. The guy on the phone told me that the clutch was probably fine and suggested the Judges Washers and Meanstreak spring. Worked like a charm. As said Gadgets has the info. Be patient with keeping the washers in place as you put things back together. Be sure to get a side cover gasket and trace around it on a pc of cardboard with the bolt hole pattern. Poke holes in the cardboard to put each bolt/screw in as you remove them.

When I ordered mine a few years ago it took a while. He was busy with his job.
I still have the e-mail that he sent me in response to my order.
If you PM me your e-mail, I'll forward it to you. It's from Aug. of 2005 but has his phone #'s.

I have an email from him at home. I can post his info after work today. I had no problem getting hold of him, he gave me a price and told me how to order. I placed my order and haven't heard from him since. I guess he travels a lot for work or something.

I ordered mine through e-mail. He contacted me the next day. I had my washers in a week and a half.

My washers arrived today in the mail.

Now I have to decide if I want to keep the Barnett spring or go with the Meanstreak spring w/Judge's washers. Hmmm.... <scratches head>

I dunno. The Barnett spring is thicker than the Meanie spring.
