grinding/rubbing noise from front wheel

I was pushing my 1600 Nomad to move it in the garage and heard a grinding or rubbing noise coming from the front wheel. I suspect it is the brake pads rubbing against the rotor, but am not sure. Anyone else noticed this on their bike? Any thoughts? If it is the brake pads, do I need to take any corrective action? BTW, I have an 2007 Nomad with 5k miles on it.

If my bike sits for any amount of time, especially if dampness is heavy in the air it makes a grinding sound. Makes that sound sometimes the first time I use the front brake too.

I'd guess the brake. Try squeezing the break lever slightly and see if it modifies the sound.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts. I live in a very high humidy area, just north of New Orleans. Ellis, I really like your idea and will try it today.
