Curious. What is the extra pressure in the front supposed to do for the handling/stability of the bike, and why? If it is better, why don't manufacturer specs reflect that?

38 front 42 rear. With more pressure up front ,turn in ,into a corner is easier and also rolling the bike around is easier when in the garage, but the biggest reason is to prevent front tire cupping which can happen with aggressive cornering.I drive mine like a Busa, because I can.

42/42 - why?? Who knows. I think I once read where a member ran the same and I have been doing it for abot 28 K miles.

The bike will feel very different with the higher pressure in the front. Much more stable when you throw it into a corner. It will feel firm as it rolls over. No one knows why it is slow low from Ma Kaw, it makes zero sense to anyone you talk to...bikers, tire people, dealers...no one seems to understand why.

Feels like a wet noodle going into a corner with the recommended air pressure.

I 2nd what ta-kid said. Low pressure on the front will promote front tire wear (cupping).

So the 28psi Kawi recommends for the Vaquero front is way off and I should get up to at least 40? Maybe that's why she's so heavy in the turns.

It is interesting that the sport bike crown seems to swear by the Kawasaki manual pressures, but the cruiser folks seem to want to increase the manual pressures by quite a bit.

Higher air pressures will give you a better ride, but less grip. Since we don't push our bikes to the edge on grip I think we are willing to give some of that up for the ride/feel that we want. Sportbikers need that extra grip so they like lower pressures.
Or we are all a bunch of obsessive bikers that debate/ponder every minor detail. :)

I saw the low pressure in the manual and decided to try it. All I have to say is don't. I'm back at 41 like the tire says. Turns were mushy and required a lot more effort. Since I've never had an issue with traction on the front I say kawasaki is FOS. Pump up the pressure and ride.

And wears them out faster.

The biggest Issue I'v run into with lower pressures is Front end "Steering-Snatch"...and rear end "Squirm" (the front "snatch" can be strong enough to jerk the handle bars out of your grip..if your not paying attention..tar strip's, and crack's in the macadam..etc)
I run 42+ in the front..and 45 in the rear @ "normal solo weights"...I go to 50psi in the rear when traveling with a passenger or -big pack !

Somebody found an old thread.
I ran the Nomads 40/40, sometimes 40/42; the Ultra I run 40/38. Tire wear has been more uniform across the rear tire at the lower pressure.

I had 40f 41r and after riding about 100 miles on a warm 80 degree+ day checked them. Was 40f 48r. Have read that pressure should increase about 3-4lbs when hot. If it increases more, add pressure, not exceeding tire max, if less, then decrease pressure. Lowered front to 37lbs and noticed a couple times the "steering snatch" mentioned above, so will most likely increase front back up to 40, and will raise rear to about 45 cold. I mostly ride 2up.

Voyager: Did ya'll run 40/40 with Stockers?
I now have about 1100 miles on them at manufacturer recommended and like most have stated it doesnt feel right putting it in the turn...will go up to 40/40 on ya'lls rec's.....any issue with wear at the higher psi?
