When I was pulling the motor from the donor bike I found a nice gremlin bell wedged between the motor and frame. My question is, would it be safe to put on the nomad because it was on a wrecked bike that I bought?

I'm not real sure, but if it was me I'd probably use it. I think the only stipulation is that you don't buy it for yourself, its supposed to be given to you.

If you pick up a GuardianĀ® Bell (http://helmetsetc.com/accessories.asp) of your own, the magic will work, but if your bell is given to you, the power is doubled, and you know that somewhere you have a special friend helping to look after you.
So, if you have a friend who doesn’t have a bell, why not give them one (http://helmetsetc.com/accessories.asp)? It’s a nice feeling for the recipient to know you care. The bell, plus a good preventive maintenance program by the bikes owner, will help eliminate Evil Road Spirits.
Bottom line: I'd save the bell and give it to a friend when he/she buys a new bike

OK. First I do not believe in superstition but for those of you who do; The bell came off a bike that was wrecked!!! For those who are superstitious, do you think that MIGHT be a bad sign???
If it was on a bike that was wrecked, then the bell did not work, unless the rider walked away from the wreck, in which case you could say it did it's job and is worth keeping.

What if you get a guardian bell for someone an have it blessed, does that increase it's power?

If you want to be blessed, join a congregation of folks that gather in God's House and
start believeing in God. That works better than a bell.

I'm superstitious and no way in hell would I put a bell from a wrecked bike on my bike.
Even if you figure it worked by the rider not getting killed I would think that it has used up it's power.
I also think if you are a religious person then have the bell blessed. What can it hurt

I had two bells on my bike when I wrecked a few years ago...:lmao:
I walked-away basically unscathed; but you would think the bells would have worked better than that...
Oh... by the way... both are still on the bike. What the heck...

Sorry guys but the talk of gremlin bells reminds me of the tooth fairy, leprechauns and Santa Claus.
If it makes you feel safer having a bell on your bike, all the power to you.

I look at the Gremlin bell kind of like looking at the wife. I believe I would rather have her on my side than sitting across from me in family court.
If I purchased a bike that had been wrecked and the past owner walked away then the bell stays as a proven fact.
It is not all superstition, but spirit of the sport.

Was that just aimed at TC? That's the way I do it.:yep::D
I left my bell on my wrecked bike, 'cause I was too wrecked to get it. I would say keep it. I never thought about it but I'd never wish the finder bad luck, or anybody. Doing that will bring bad luck on you superstitious or not.:yep:

I dont consider myself superstitous or overly religious but I like the bell on there. My riding buddy and I bought each other bells at the last rally and put them on immediately. Just something in the back of your mind that gives me a sense of peace.
To each his own. Keep the bell from the wrecked bike IMO, you can never have too much luck.

Thanks everyone for the input. I just did not want to have a double whammy of bad luck by putting the bell on another bike.

I contend that the fact the rider crashed is proof the bell failed its purpose.

Another way to look at it.
If the rider lived, the bell worked.
I still would not use a bell from a wrecked bike.

And never never use a bell from a bike that had loud pipes.:ohno::ohno::tehe:
Well duh, everybody knows that.
The bell on a bike with loud pipes will not work to begin with.
The echo inside the bell from the loudness keeps the spirits from entering so they just hang on to the other parts of the bike causing all sorts of other problems.

Ok, so I need a rabbits foot on my keychain, a string of garlic on my handlebars, a bell in my frame, a horseshoe pointing up attached to my fairing, a couple dream catchers on my windshield, a jesus on my dashboard.............am I missing anything? I won't pick up any chicks, but I should be safe, right?

:lmao::lmao:
Good luck finding a rabbit's foot. They use to be plentiful and at every counter at every 5 & dime store you went into. Now -a-days the environmentalists would never let that happen.
Like some of you, I'm not a superstitious person, but having said that though, I did take part in the "gremlin bell exchange" a while back and mine is hanging under "Nan"....my Nomad. It was also there when I had my near death "tank slapper" ...last summer [? ? time flys] If it were me, I would let the gremlin bell go with the rest of the wrecked bike or maybe put it on my work bench or in my roll=away tool box.
Why don't you resurrect the "gremlin bell exchange" thread like Nomadtom has suggested and get a new one for the bike. There have probably been a more than enough new members since....2011 that would be interested. Just a thought.
good luck and safe riding........everyone!

Yea Friends In The Wind...I dragged my bell off when I made sparks with the floor board on a left leaning curve (my foster brother "Big-E" had made that bell outa a old silver spoon, and given it to me)
HOWEVER On The Next Curve..a "right leaner" I dragged the floor board on that side..and dragged the metal Nut-Sak I had under that one--OFF Also !
What Do I Do Now ?

Slow down and quit dragging the boards. We're getting too old for that kind of riding. :ohno:

Amen Loafer...the bell is from someone came up with an ideal to make MONEY. I have a bell because it was given to me. I ride to blessings of the bike events and pray not for me but for other first and then I give thanks for all my blessings and for giving me the scence of watching out for other drivers. Hey its a bike thing and go with it but I would think a new bell would be better than a well use one.

I was given a bell when I bought my shadow 4 years ago. When I sold it and bought my 1600 the bell was the first thing I took off and the first thing I put on. Who's to question the gremlins looking over me.. certainly not me.
