Just curious what everyone has planned to do to their bike over the winter..well those of who have a winter where we can't ride.

As for myself I plan on :

cam chain extenders, 27,000 miles and got the clatter
clutch spring since I've started getting a little slip in 5th gear
double darkside, a GYTT and a D404 reversed in the front.

I've been a bit distracted with the work on the house and pool. Work on the bike will be ride, ride, ride, all winter long.

Where do I start? :) Chucksters intake, fuel processor, misc chrome, bag chaps, a few things that start with the letter "Kuryakyn", coasters, 1700 Nomad handlebars and I'll start trying to figure out the RG fairing. This should keep me busy until spring. The party keeps going until I run out of money. :)

CJ, just noticed your "down by the river". You could have bought a house for what you paid for "Barney" in our area. . .

3 new brake rotors / pads / Stainless lines for brakes and clutch - maybe a RG fairing if I can find one. Send out batwing fairing for repair and repaint - big bad Hail storm last year pounded the crap outa the one side!

Yeah, but my wife and I both work in the East Valley, and our sons and their families live over here too. Not looking for a longer commute.

I'm going to get a book that tells me how to work on my bike then tear it apart.
Put in A new steering head bearing, grease the swing arm, replace the u-joints in the drive line and grease everything in there. Install new wheel bearings front and rear, new brake pads, tear the engine down and have it bored out, the list just goes on and on. NOT

Just curious what everyone has planned to do to their bike over the

I thought a couple trips to Death Valley, Route 66 East & West and maybe explore some of the more desolate roads surrounding Lake Mead to name a few. :D

Not much. It's just to danged hot for me. Been living here in Arizona for 27 years and still not acclimated. I'm o.k. to around 90 degrees. After that it's boats and jetskis.

I'll be installing wheel bearings and a new tire, windsheild, tailight and headlight as well as a few other minor things. That should keep me busy for a while.

New Rear Tire -
Both Cam Chain Extenders - Done
Swing Arm Maintenance -
Remove awfull Front speakers -
Install New Smaller Speakers -
Fiberglass Radio Holder and possibly put speaker mounts in -
Fix rear V&H collar - welded - Done
Install new brake pads all around -
Install LED lighting -

I think that is about it. Maybe more to come.

Mine went into storage today  Yesterday was the last straw for riding this year. Getting caught in a bad thunderstorm in 40 degree weather is no fun.

This winter the bike will see new steering stem and front wheel bearings

Steve...maybe I missed it....but what happened to your bike with the insurance co? Did they end up repairing it?

BTW...as for me....other than maybe a routine service and set of tires next spring....I will be busy planning all my great routes for next summer! I'm hoping to make the SW Rally in June (Kanab, UT)...and for sure the Canadian Rockies Rally (Canmore, AB, Canada) in July. That's a lot of route/hotel planning. Could keep me busy all winter!

I'm getting my seat redone from Rusell daylong. Just sent it in today. And ceramic coating the exhaust pipes. Got them off but need to find time to drive 2 hrs oneway. They close at 4:30. May have to leave work early.

Clutch spring...and building a lift table, when I'm not riding. (Winter riding is the perk we get for putting up with such hellish summers).

*really* looking forward to having the table!

I didn't have any collision insurance on the bike so I have to fix it all myself. Most of its done, but it won't have the fairing or beerbox on it anymore. I doubt I'll like it as much with just a windshield but I'll give it a try and go from there.

Winter is here now and will stay for the next 6 months. Bike is on the lift. New Reckless fairing is mounted and is in Mod. mode as we speak. After I've got that done, the bike will be comming apart from front to rear for some "Secret" stuff. Pics. of machined items will appear as they are made. Bdog

It'll be going on a charger and stabil in the gas tank. First time I've done it since riding, so we'll see how that goes.

Well, let's see. I'm going to replace my handlebars, right front engine guard and right side saddle bag guard. I'm also going to replace the Kuryakin hand grips with another set and also the Kury Dually highway pegs.

Why such a strange combination of things you ask? Well, those are the things that were damaged when I went down! My leg is doing better and I'm back on my feet. The knee doesn't have the stability I'd like or the endurance yet but, it's coming along.

When it's a little better, I'll take a few hours and replace everything. Other than that, I kinda like my bike the way I have it.

siriusjoe --- I have the smallest of the larger Edmonds lowers. They make an enormous difference in buffeting. Best of luck getting your stickers off.
