I have to admit, I have never understood the attraction to those things.
First, you seem to lose the purpose for riding a bike in the first place as you can't enjoy the twisty's and second, the person riding in the sidecar is completely toast in the unfortunate event of an accident. JMHO.... :-/.

I don't see the sidecar attraction either, but that's just me.

Nomad Sidecar
I had a Goldwing with a sidecar back in the mid 80s. It has it's appeal, and really is a lot of fun, but it's way different from just a motorcycle. It's a lot of work to ride to be sure. It constantly pulls to the right and it's like steering a truck.
But we enjoyed it. Used to take the whole family on it back when my two older boys were young. Both boys in the sidecar and wife on the back. The cool thing is, it comes off pretty quick. I'll have to dig up some pictures.

Found them!
![]() ![]() ![]() These were taken in 1985. The last one is my son and I returning from a January ride. Cold night, but we stayed warm.

That's pretty neat looking gooroo. My family grew up thinking it was crazy to have a motorcycle. My first time riding or driving was when I took the msf class. Luckilymy wife grew up with both her parents riding so she was perfectly fine when I said I wanted one.
I have always thatought about a sidecar but doubt i would get one. One of my favortie things about the bike is how I can squeeze in anywhere and park in the city. Sidecar would take that advantage away. |

Nice looking sidecar Wolfman. My wife has been talking about converting her C50 to a trike when she gets to the point of not being able to balance a motorcycle. The cost is way out of our budget when it is as much or more as the cost of her bike new. Although not a big fan of sidecars but they do have a nostalgic appeal and I've suggested a sidecar as an alternative than can be more easily removed if needed. I like the looks of the molded fender on that one. If you find the manufacturer please post.
Cheers! |

![]() I don't now who builds it, but we ran into that fella in Elkins this past June. He bought it on ebay for $700.00 if I remember correctly. Its an older model sidecar, and he said it took a while to get it set up properly so that it tracked straight. His wife rides a Nomad also, and they tour around all over with their grandson.

Wolfman, I'm way into sidecars. I love the way they look on a bike, but only if they are classic looking cars, not modern.
Liberty sidecars make some classic looking style (20's through the 50's look) http://www.libertysidecars.com/ Here's an example. ![]() They are pretty spendy though, Ural makes one that is a lot cheaper (materials and price) and it still has the classic look. I would love to have a sidecar rig as a second bike, pretty much the same way the mullet crowd has bar hoping bikes that are raked out with rigid frames and huge rear tires. Not nearly as comfortable to ride, but the look does something for them. There is something about seeing a sidecar out on the road that always gets my attention in a good way. When I get too old to hold a bike up, it will for sure be a sidecar not a trike that keeps me on a bike. To me a trike bike looks like a wheel chair or a walker, a side car looks cool. That's just me. I hope you find one and can pile the wife and kids in it and head off to church in it. :) |
