I was wondering is the air in the rear shocks is for ride height only. Or does it have sompthing to do with commpression?

The air shouldn't change the ride height all that much. THese shocks don't have great deal of travel distance anyway. The amount of air in the shocks is for the sake of cushion. Too much or none at all and the bike will seem more rigid, Most use around 20-30psi for single. I run 40 two up with a trailer.

According to the User Manual, the standard air pressure for an average build rider of 150 lb with no passenger and no accessories is "Atmospheric Pressure."

Use the following table as a reference:

<table border="1"><tr><td>Air Pressure</td><td>Setting</td><td>Load</td><td>Road</td></tr><tr><td>Atmospheric Pressure</td><td>Soft</td><td>Light</td><td>Good</td></tr><tr><td>1 - 42 PSI</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td></tr><tr><td>43 PSI</td><td>Hard</td><td>Heavy</td><td>Bad</td></tr></table>

For the Rebound Damping Force setting (the thumbwheel with I, II, III & IIII on it) follow these suggestions:

<table border="1"><tr><td>Adjuster Position</td><td>Damping Force</td><td>Setting</td><td>Load</td><td>Road</td><td>Speed</td></tr><tr><td>
I
</td><td>Weakest</td><td>Soft</td><td>Light</td><td>Good</td><td>Low</td></tr><tr><td>
II
</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td></tr><tr><td>
III
</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td><td>-</td></tr><tr><td>
IIII
</td><td>Strongest</td><td>Hard</td><td>Heavy</td><td>Bad</td><td>High</td></tr></table>

Hey Bob, how many "average build" riders do you think we have on here?

Unfortunately, as has been alluded to, the "average" Nomad rider is 200~300 lbs.

I was wondering about the shocks today as well. I've gotten the opportunity to take my wife out more, and was wondering if most of you are leaving them set up for 2-up riding as opposed to adjusting them back-and-forth between rides. I assume people leave them set on 4 (with 40 psi) but wanted to ask. Mine have been set on 3 but I plan on changing that tonight.

I'm 335 by myself and have found 4 and 30-34 to be just right riding solo. Nice cooshy ride and only bottom out on the big unexpected stuff

I find #2 and 26lbs of air riding solo is cushy but solid enough for me...210lbs
