Reed valve hoses

Hi I am removing the reed valves and installing the plates, I have removed the
reeds and most of the hoses, I would like to know what is best way to handle
the small tube that comes off the throttle body to the valve air switch, Plug it or chase it back and cap it, push it out of the way, I am guessing it needs to be plugged at the least? I did install Chuckster's BAK. I had the marble in and should have left good enough alone but noooo not me. I am also installing a

It's been so long since I did it I can't remember exactly what's involved.
I know I removed all the hoses and capped everything off.
Including a spot on top of the throttle bodies.
Someone with a better memory than me will chime in at some point.

It's been a few years since I did my Nomad but I removed all of the hoses . There should be two brass fittings on the top of the throttle body that will have to be capped . There's really no need for all that stuff once you put the plates on . Sure cleans up the look of the motor . Hope this helps !

I'll add more if anything comes to mind .

Here's a thread I saved about setting the EKJ if your interested ( post #10 ) . I have a EKJ on my Nomad as well . Love it !!!

A little advise I have done 2 1500s and make sure You either plug a short piece of the original hose with a small bolt or use a good quality cap (OEM Automotive or Bike ) the cheaper ones crack up and leak . I put a little aviation sealer around the nipple and used a small wire tie to keep it in place and that worked best .

We’ve all been there Bruce. Half the fun of owning a motorcycle is tinkering with it. When I pulled all that crap off mine I think there was one hose left and I put a bolt in it with sealant. One other thing you might do is put a crankcases breather on. It’s suppose to help with oil consumption on long trips (the BAK can suck oil from the crankcase).

It does look nice cleaned up but for now I am keeping the stock look, Maybe next winter when I can not leave good enough rest, I'll pull the cross over out.

On that hose I think I will plug what's there for now. At Lake George Amin showed me a bike with a crankcase filter mounted down low with a couple 90 elbows and a small bracket, that's what I am working on. The stock set-up leaks a little and is making a mess.

Sounds like you were looking at a green/silver Nomad with Arkansas tags.

Yeah I had showed you my set up on ol'red , as well as the green / silver nomad with Arkansas tags. I did get the technical know how from BudMan to put mine on. I have not ridden them much to see if they do indeed work (got them on both bikes)

take. off hoses at throttlebody, use quality caps with sealer. As you were told, cheap ones will crack and leak. I use tapered plugs myself, then seal. then cap over them....
Remove your plates, be sure and clean where gasket seals or you could get some backfiring.
Look it all up at gadgets site....
Kit usually comes with plates, new gaskets and bolts....

Hi folks, greetings from Finland!

I have a problem with hoses in Vulcan 1600 throttlebody, reed valves are removed by previous owner.

I had to replace the rocket cover gaskets, and as you know the rear cover gasket is difficult, almost impossible to change without removing the engine, in rear there is very little space for removing the rocker cover only because of frame tube is above it.

So I removed the engine :)

Now to the point.

Questions:

Hose #1, is it a breather/overflow tube, should it be lead to front of rear wheel, right?

Hose #2, should be plugged?

Hose #3, where it should be connected?

If you look at post 3 in this thread it states there 2 brass fittings that need to be capped.
I believe they are #1 and #2 in the diagram you posted ?

Hose 3 appears to be item 92191C in the diagram below ?

https://www.ronayers.com/oemparts/a/...9320b/throttle

Maybe hose #3 goes to item 16126, the air switch valve ?
