Saddlebag Racks

No idea what brand they are but they AREN'T Fire & Steel. They look good but they don't have enough curve to mount correctly on the bags. If someone can bend them a bit more, they'd be great! I don't remember what I paid, but I'd like to get $50 plus shipping out of them. I'll lose money but I'm gonna wrap my bags with chaps anyway. Comes with all stock hardware (grommets, bolts, rubber washers).

Why don't you bend them and use them yourself?

I don't have anything to bend them with.

A couple blocks of wood and a deadblow hammer will do it.

I would have to buy a deadblow hammer (whatever that is...sounds dangerous). There'd have to be a way of keeping one end down while I beat on the other end. All I've got is a garage floor. If they don't sell, I'll try to figure something out. I'd just hate to mess up the chrome if someone else can bend them successfully.

Because of the bend (or lack of), they're too far back. To follow the curve of the bags, they should sit a couple inches farther forward. They're just not curved enough for that to happen. If someone could bend them a bit more, they'd be fine.

Doesn't look like there's much interest. I may have someone bend them a bit more for me then, if the chrome starts to crack/peel, I'll have them media blasted and painted black (or whatever color I get my bike repainted in a couple of years). At least it would be different.

Do you have pictures of them mounted on your bike? I'd like to see a closer shot.

This may be a simple remedy....are you sure you have the rails set with the two bolts to the rear and the one bolt to the front? That is the correct positioning of the rails. I saw a picture once where a guy had them backward (one bolt to the rear)....it looked goofy and set the rails too far back. Those look like the exact rails you need. Just a thought...

Thanks for the tip, Kris. They were mounted in the right direction. Here's a pic of them on the bike.

They appear to be mounted too far back on the bag. The rear of the rail should still be on top of the bag before it curves down. We're these already on the bike when you bought it? The rear of the rail should be about where the rear bolts currently are. I will post a pic of mine later..

Those are how they SHOULD look! Monkeyman, if you compare photos, you will see yours are simply mounted too far back.
