Any Ideas On How TO Not Get Ran Over?

Today I was coming home from work. I'm in the military and wear the ABU camo uniform but wear a brightly colored vest over it while riding a Black Nomad. I also had a full length lime green vest over my rear riggs pack tour bag on the back rest. 3 different times on the way home today some dummies almost ran over me. They were on the cell phone or either just didn't care but all squeezed right in my "safe zone" in front of me cutting me off. I try to allow enough room to react but you can't hang back too far because of the idiots. I'm almost to the point of carrying a readily accesible handfull of ball bearings to bounce off their back window! Do you ever have these problems? Maybe it's just the idiots where I live. :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/>

Yeah, you leave a safe distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you and three cars will try to pull into the gap! I swear, if it were possible to put one of those train horns on the bike one blast from that should clear out their bowels. Of course, they would probably slam on their brakes and you would rear end them! Arrrgh!

Don't feel too special. There are idiots like that all over Florida too. Most of the time they cut you off without any warning. I guess the don't want to wear out their turn signals. It seems to be getting worse every day. Too many people in cars that have no respect or consideration for others. I've thought about ball bearings, nuts and bolts, spark plug ceramic, etc. but in Jacksonville there is a minimum of at least one murder a day and lots of road rage incidents. I either back off or speed up to stay away from the traffic as much as possible and keep my cell phone in my jacket. If I get bounced off my bike I want the phone with me in case I'm still able to use it.

Cheers!

Thats when I like having the Stebel horn. It makes people pay attention to me. It is too loud to ignore.

I have been thinking about getting a louder horn. The wife even agrees. Where's the best place to get one? The Nomad horn is kind of weak.

In El Paso, they have put up electronic signs on all the major highways. They have included something to the fact that bikers deserve their lane, the whole lane, etc..... Police are actually watching for cagers that are trying to squeeze the bikers, pulling them over and giving citations.

Any Ideas On How TO Not Get Ran Over?

I have a bright yellow mesh jacket I wear most of the time now instead of my leather. Even though we are all trying to be more visible it seems like it is just getting worse. Today a young lady passed me in a 55 mph zone (construction) doing about 70 and either dialing or texting on her cell. Needless to say I gave her as much room as possible.

I wonder how hard it is to throw a ball bearing while your riding? LOL. Anyone ever put it to the test that you will admit to?

Any Ideas On How TO Not Get Ran Over?

Zoom45, The horn Audio points out is the one, claimed to be the loudest horn available for bikes, 139 dB. Lots of people here have one. Search this site for "Stebel" and you should find quite a bit. Comes with and needs a rely and some additional wiring. Several of us have mounted in the same place as the stock - again, the search should turn up some pics. Happy honking.
