Extended Warranty.. worth it??

Hi everyone, long time lurker, 2nd time poster!

The warranty on my trusty 08 nomad expires soon, and I am conflicted on the extended warranty. Can't decide if I want to buy or not. What are the thoughts out there? Lot of cash to spend, but if a major problem arises in the next 4 years, it would sure be nice to be covered. Do most people buy it, or run the other way? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I have the 4 year Kawasaki Good Times extended warranty. I purchased it from my dealer before I rode away. I paid too much for it. Found out about Fremont Motorsports selling the warranty on ebay. Follow the link below.

I bought an extended warranty from a dealer on e-bay. It's always a gamble and you wonder if you will ever need it. I had a oil leak on the clutch slave and it was covered under warranty. Dealer installed F&S parts are covered too. My light bar had a problem and it was covered as well. The price i paid for the warranty was well worth it. No out of pocket expense for the repairs. Peace of mind is worth it.

Thanks for all the input guys, I think I'm going to pull the trigger and do it. I'm sure if I didn't buy one, I'd spin a bearing the day after the factory warranty expires, and if I do buy it, I'll never use it.... but the peace of mind will make me feel better.

Someone today wrote about transmission problems, he'd probably like the 3-4 hundred dollar freemont one too.

I've had the extended on two of my Nomads, paid for themselves many times over on both bikes.

And if you trade the bike off before the warranty expires the dealer will credit your for the remainder or it is transferalble to the new owner.

Good Bob. I've heard that analogy before. Only difference was it was referring to a concealed handgun.

As was said above, if you choose to buy the warranty, buy it on ebay from Fremont Motorsports in Colorado. You can get the 4-year extended warranty from them for $355. That's a heck of a lot better than the $700 something from Kawasaki.

The transferrable part of the deal is awesome. That can be a real selling point to any potential new owner if you have a couple years left on the warranty... :)! I paid $375.00 through Fremont and they were great to deal with....well worth the price!

My bike had the extended warranty bought with it, and when I checked with Kawasaki after I bought it, they told me that they had never had a warranty claim on my bike. I guess I got a good one.

Hey sdnomad, I have about 4,000 in warranty work since last November that says hell yeah it's worth it!!!

You never know what's going to happen. I had to have most of my transmission and engine rebuilt and a water cooler seal that was more than just the seal go bad on me. Needless to say, I paid 0, zip, nada, zero!

Yes, it's worth it

I wish I had spotted the Fremont Extended before I may have gone there. Heck if I had known I would have bet on Chicago.

I hope the warranty is worth it. I bought mine from Fremont last week, the week before my initial one was to expire. I had finally saved enough to buy a Kimber .45 I had been lusting over, but took part of it and got the warranty instead.
