Jacket question

Hey all.
The bride and I are thinking about different jackets. And after reading about Nico and V V's ... "adventure", we might want to step up the protection a bit. It does make you think.
We have leather jackets for winter, but it is just too hot any other time.
How about the vented, carbon/plastic re-enforced type jackets that the sportbike riders wear? There have to be a more conservative style that still offers good protection while allowing cooler operation.
Any input would be great.
BTW, hope Nico, Wife and V V heal quick and ride together soon.

Jacket question

rflnomad,
Six months ago I bought a Tour Master Intake jacket. Best jacket I've ever owned. Has a quilted layer for the cold and a thin layer for rain. Take both of them out and it's perfect for summer riding. Put them both in and you're warm for winter riding.

You can look at it at:

Jacket question

rflnomad,

My wife and I both wear jackets from Olympiamotorsports. Has removable waterproof liners and protected my but earlier this year in a pretty serious go down. We have the airglide model. I think the Tourmaster clothing mentioned by Trip is very good also. Here's the link to Olympia.

Jacket question

I first thought that too Ponch. If you go back and look on the page where it shows all the jackets, there is a drop down list of sizes. I looked at the women's jacket like that and it's $99!!

I take a 58-60L in a blazer. most motorcycle jacket sizing is smaller than it says, and they don't even come close.

Jacket question

Nico, that jacket looks boss. Will it be mostly for warm weather riding? I have a Fox creek leather jacket which weighs 7 lbs and is good for winter/fall and up to about 85 degrees.

It has a heavier zip out lining... along with the mesh lining.. I think wearing the vest under it, it should be good in winter as well...... (we don't get much of that out here) lol

Jacket question

Ponch, I found some Men's sized jackets at Bikebandit.com Leather is too hot about 95% of the time here in Houston, so I am looking to buy a mesh jacket like the "Fieldsheer High Temp Mesh Jacket". They advised that the XXXXL is a 58-60.
