Another Custer wannabe trip

Like schoeney I couldn't go to Custer so my friend Cam and I went on a little road trip. He just got his BMW K1300GT 10 days before this trip so was anxious to put on some miles. Another friend, also named Cam to confuse things was supposed to come on his new Ultra, but blew his knew out less than 9 hours before we left.

Our route was somewhat planned and put together a couple days before we left. I wish I could have met up with a few members and may have even seen schoeney on the road, who knows. We had no idea about the Lolo pass, and wow, what a great ride that was!!!!

Here are several (quite a few actually) pics from our ride. We did almost 1400 miles (2220 km actually) in three days.

Now that is weird. We both own a Nomad, we both went with a friend that rides a sport tourer, we both had a second friend that wanted to go but couldn't, both our friends names are 3 letters with an "A" in the middle, we both rode Lolo Pass at the same time, we both went 1400 miles, we both use a Garmin, .....you are a better photographer but I do do think it is pretty clear that great minds do think alike....nice pics!

Looks like a great ride, nothing like taking off with a friend or few for a few days of riding.

The BMW is an excellent bike. I rode it for a bit while we were gone, and the thing has all the features, electronic cruise, power windshield, heated seats, heated grips, etc, etc, etc. He was looking at the Yamaha FJR and Kawi Concours 14 as well. He hated the Concours, they did not have any FJR's in to even look at, so he went with the BMW. Great acceleration, lots of power. Took a bit of getting used to the RPM's being so high on the highway though, but man does it go when you give it some throttle. Comfortable ride overall, very different from the cruiser though. I have not rode that style of bike for a lot of years so took a few minutes to get comfortable. Oh, and great storage capacity in the saddle bags and top case.

Nice pictures, looks like you had a great ride.
There is one shot of you and your friend that seems a little suspicious though.
The two of you all decked out in leathers and helmets posing in front of the "welcome to Idaho" sign and bicycles in the background. How did you really get there?

Was wondering if someone would comment on the bikes in that picture... There was a group of guys riding from Minnesota to Portland that had stopped there. After riding all that way, we did not have the heart to ask them to move the bikes, and they were nice enough to take a couple pictures for us!

I would say that other than the additional camaraderie of KawaNow members at the rally -- it sure looks like you were in areas every bit as beautiful to ride.

Great pics. Looked like a loads of fun.
