Time for a new jacket, the old leather jacket has seen better days.
While I really like leather Jackets for the protection and climate control I keep thinking that a gortex or similar type material jacket that offers some protection against the rain might be a more practical choice. These other types of jackets give the appearance (to me) that the wind would go right through them I am curious as to whether or not I can have it all, protection from the wind, rain, nasty spill and still provide me with the warmth that my leather Jacket does?

Thanks

I still prefer leather myself, but my wife switched to Joe rocket ballistic nylon pants. Waterproof, has Armour and wind proof. She thinks they are great. You could check out their line of jackets.

I wear leather in the cooler months, and an armored mesh textile jacket in the summer.

Besides my leather jacket -- which only gets worn early and late in the season... I wear a variety of coats and vests... none of which are anything special -- just typical coats and vests.

I just can't seem to get past the cost of some of these jackets...

well the cost is one of my concerns...I don't have a problem spending money on what I need and have to replace my lether jacket, as I said I do like my leather Jacket but if I can get more bang for my buck I will move away from leather.

Leather jacket and chaps in the cooler months, mesh jacket during the warm months and a long sleeve t-shirt during the hot months.

I was the leather jacket type until I picked up one of those ballistic nylon jackets last fall during a clearance sale
These things are really versatile, body armor, different layers, and warm when needed or with all the vents, cool on hot days. They are also really lightweight compare to my old leathers.
Better gas mileage maybe...

I have to agree that they do not give out the real authentic "biker look".... ::).....If was was riding an HD maybe it wouldn't be appropriate

Yea Mac when I saw it my first thought was that I am sitting here typing and trying to get caught up from being away from the forum for three days and wearing my sleep wear which is my underwear.

I usually wear the leather coat pretty much all the time. When you are on the road it is fine, gets a little hot when you stop at a traffic light or something.

So are you saying if we were to ever meet, I would be looking for a guy in a leather coat in his underwear?
