Deer vs Car

I didn't realize that West Virginia was the most dangerous state for hitting deer. I thought Alabama would be a little higher than it is. Thanks for posting.

Looks like Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada are the places to be.

You are LEAST likely to hit a deer in Hawaii, Arizona and Nevada.

Not if you like deer hunting. They should import some.

I knew it was very high in Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan. I also would have thought that Kentucky was a higher risk than what the map shows. We'd see deer road kill everywhere when hunting in western Kentucky. Thanks for posting this.

I'm one of the reasons the statistics are higher in OH and NC.

Yes, we have deer in Hawaii but they are Axis Deer about the size of a German Sheppard [dog not nationality]. Actually saw one dead on the road just the other day.

Surprised at the high rate for W. VA. Not about the number of deer being hit but at the number reported. Figured the mountain folks would just pick it up and call it dinner.

Good information. WV is a dangerous place, not just for deer! They have all sorts of animals and the woody areas are close to the road.
It is that time of year, everyone be careful.

Funny y'all should mention this. I had an unfortunate meeting with a deer about 3 weeks ago......On my bike! I was only doing about 35 or 40 when I hit it, but it did a number on me and my wife.

She got lots of road rash and a broken wrist. I got head injuries with brain bleeding, loss if hearing in my left ear (which is hopefully temporary) and I broke my collar bone in 4 places which required surgery and the installation of a steel plate.

Needless to say.....I'm hoping the deer hunters have a REALLY good season here in Alabama this year :)

That sucks.

Being in RI I'm suprised at the statistics.

In the last 7 or 8 yrs I've hit three and my wife Pat hit 2 with cars. OOPS. One of the deer Pat hit was on I-91 coming out of NH VT just in MA. So I guess that one doesn't count.

We don't need no stinkin gun (rifle pistol shotgun). Just give us a car.............. ;)
