These are some great looking bikes!
The French scooter with a built in cannon was funny!

I'll bet those old war machines could tell some stories!

Ha!!

That would be the "Cannon Scooter"!!

You can bet that unit only saw limited action.

Once the cannon (of that size) was fired... they likely never saw the scooter again!

On another note regarding the pictures... another thread on here involved a guy trying to use the old "spring-seats" on his Nomad. For what it is worth... it looks like he should use a center-post (like a bicycle seat) for his seat as these old bikes did. ???

My first thought when I saw the cannon scooter was "hmmmmm someone is compensating for something..." :)
I also love how the USA bikes were all V-Twins.
That was cool checking those pictures out. Thanks for posting that man.

Wouldn't we all like to have one of those now. Simple, Stylish, Reliable. They served their Country well.

They were some interesting bike, I remember as a kid in the sixty's you could still buy some brand new surplus bikes.

There are usually some of those type bikes at the Riding Through Time exhibit over in St. Augustine in May. It is a historical bike show. Last year they had an emergency escape scooter that paratroopers used, cool deal.

I just feel sorry for the poor old French soldier who was sitting on that Cannon Bike when it accidentally went off, cause I bet that sucker kicked like a team of mules. Jamie
