Thinking About Moving

I have an offer to go to work for the 'Evil Empire' (HD)in Myrtle Beach. I've also found an adult themed club where I can be a bouncer three nights a week. I rode down last week and confirmed everything.

Any thoughts?

If it is a career move, I'd have some reservations. I think HD is facing big trouble. Soon, they will have to compete for sales from a bunch of aging crotch-rocket riders who have grown up riding performance bikes. There is no special aura about the HD sound or look that will make them pay significantly extra money for it.

If you're looking at a chance to move to the ocean? Go for it!

It's your decision, man. I assume you would be working at an HD dealer? Bouncer in an adult club could be interesting...

Not knowing what you do now, but if you're ready for a change, then you have probably already got your answer.

If you think youll like it, give it a shot. I don't know what position youll have there but sometimes wrenching on bikes for a living isn't as much fun as working on your own bike at home.

Charlotte is a nice area with a lot of job options. Myrtle Beach doesn't have a lot to offer other than tourism. Cost of living has to be more at Myrtle Beach. Your decision, give it some thought. If it is what you want, then go for it.

I would hold out for the job of stripper, although I have seen some strippers who also bounced.

Different strokes for different folks but I lived in MB for two years and personally I think it S---ks.

It's a tourist area, after you get past the "Living at the Beach" thing you have to put up with a lot of yahooo's on vacation all the time.

Come to think about it I have about the same problem where I live now ::)

After what the city did to motorcycling,I wouldn't give the blue hairs a cent. It's you decision though and the weather and traffic are better than Charlotte.

I too think Harley will continue to suffer from lack of sales. That will likely reverberate down to lower level, local positions. Not mentioned what you will be doing for them but that aspect should be considered. For the bouncer spot, working around folks under the influence of whatever is nothing I prefer to do, way too volatile. But I'm sure you already know that!

A career move along with relocation is never a trivial decision. Good luck with your decision!!

I agree with Bubba, having lived there myself. Crowded too much of the year for my tastes. Traffic is a pain. Watch out for flood zones when buying a house. Live north or south of Myrtle Beach...more "beachy".
