NMR: Auto auction

Is anyone watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction on the Speed Channel this week? I watch it religiously every year. It's held in Scottsdale, about 30 miles from where I live. I am a big muscle car guy, having grown up in the 60's and 70's. I see these 1970 Hemi Challengers or Cudas that sell for 100 grand and remember that we all drove muscle cars in high school. I had a 64 Impala SS and then a 65 GTO. My friends had Camaro Z28's, Mach 1 Mustangs, Super Bees, Roadrunners, Chevelle SS, a Mercury Cyclone, Trans Ams, 442's, and a GTO Judge none of us probably paid more than $1000-$1500 for any of them. I've never actually been to the auction, but I decided today that next year, I'm going to ditch work for a day and go.

I watch it sometimes on cable. I saw a motorcycle auction by them a while ago. They had some nice bikes. To pricey for me but the guy that owns J&P Cycles bought a couple.

I am watching it right now. I love it. It is like getting the Christmas wish book when you were a kid.

I used to really look forward to watching it every year, unfortunately my cable provider removed it from the channels I receive. I would have to move up another premium package higher to get it . I pay enough already for cable so I'll sit this one out.

Mine too. I just want to go to watch. BTW, the tent they hold the auction in is enormous. 1800 feet long, 90 feet high and I think 375 wide. The rest of the year it's used for equestrian events. It's big enough they could hold indoor drag races there.

It's on nearly every day here on Dish CJ, I seen where they sold Carroll Shelby's own personal original Cobra for a cool $5 million.

Love to watch it and dream of being able to attend one year. I want a 55 56 57 Nomad or Safari station-wagon, just can't find the 50 to 75 K to buy it with!!

I also see the Monkeemobile in the group. George Barris made some cool cars for the TV shows when I was a kid.

I used to have a med blue '57 2 -door coupe(no post) with hopped up 283 ci with edlebrock hi-rise and holley 4 barrel. Muncie 4-spd with Hurst shifter, big tires on corvette rims. Duals with glass packs, lots of engine mods(cam, lifters, etc). That was a fun car since i drove it about 100mph everywhere I went.
