My 15 minutes of fame...
I had a letter to the editor of Baggers magazine published in the August 2010 issue (pg 22). I wrote it a few months ago in response to a letter written by an intolerant individual who made no bones about his hatred for "Jap bikes".
Here's my letter: Wow, I just finished reading Brian Goodyear's rant about "JAP bikes" and I can't believe that one individual can have such seething hatred for a motorcycle he doesn't have to own. Yeah Brian, I ride a so-called "JAP bike" and I can guarantee you, your American bike isn't as all-American as your small-minded head thinks it is. Baggers, thanks for throwing us metric readers a bone now and then. BTW, I like looking at pictures of nice motorcycles, regardless of where they are made. Scott Hanks Phoenix

Nice work CJ! I agree with what you said completely. I really though Baggers was going to be a great magazine, but I feel like they aren't really great about covering the metrics so I stopped reading them. But your letter was right on. Might have to get the issue just to read it.

So far as I know Victory is the only supposed all American made bike. HD sure isn't.
Yesterday up in Gorham a HD refused to start, and guys were pushing it all over the place. I said Honey, this is why we ride a NOMAD. With LBW on I can't stop for every HD dead on the road side, so I stop for none, unless it is after dark., or a lone rider.

I used to have a link that explained why Harley's sucked so much, and it provided info on just what percent of Harley was made in USA, as opposed to how much was made in Japan, and other countries. It was amazing to know what % of the American Made Motorcycle was Japanese. I was searching for, but cannot find that link.

Great letter Scott. Glad it got published. I enjoy looking at all bikes unless it is a crotch rocket. They have never done anything for me. If you want to start fast and ride extremely fast then that is what a person needs to own. My trusty Nomad will carry me down the highway at speeds in excess of what I want to be riding. It will still beat most cars off the line if I so choose. All in all the Nomad is a wonderful bike.
