Question Riding With The Highbeam On

*This is meant to be a Serious Thread.

I've noticed a lot of riders not dimming their highbeams at night for oncoming traffic.
Also I have had riders behind me, while I'm in my car, not dim their lights during the daytime.
When I'm alone, most of the time I will ride with the highbeam on, daytime.
It makes me more visible.
When I am following another vehicle I turn the highbeam off daytime or nighttime.

What do you do?

This post has comments pertaining to why you might want to be able to shut off your AUX lights.

Day time... high beam

Night... low beam

I never stay behind a car long enough to bother them

Same here. I think I picked this up from my MC riding instructor back in the day, and I've rode this way ever since.

Daytime, highbeam with spotlights on.
Night I try not to ride at night but when necessary I use highbeam with spots on and when meeting a care I go to low beam but spots stay on.
I figure if they see me they might not hit me.

Daytime-High Beam w/Spots on.
Night-Try not to ride but if I do...Low Beam w/Spots on

This is a huge difference maker. When leading large groups, I look into my mirror and can barely see some of the headlights on bikes right behind me, but the guy at the back who has his high-beam on sticks out like a sore thumb. The point is to be seen, so riding with the high-beam on during the day is a safety measure of utmost importance. If you are not currently doing so...get in the habit, it just may save your life...!

High beam with spots. It makes a big difference as a buddy rides with low beam most of the time and has no spots. When he gets a little far back you hardly see the low beam.

Having said that I have been told that with the extra light blazing in the day time at certain times it is harder to see my front turn signals, at least from guys riding in front of me looking back in their rear view mirrors.

What do you do?
Do you dim them when you meet another driver just as you would at night?
The riders I come across tend to leave them on. This hurts my eyes in the day time just the same at night.

Day time----low beam with light bar on
Night time---low with light bar/high beam only,...as needed
Here in BC it's against the law to run three bright light/high beam at one time. The light bar spots are considered high intensity. So I'm wired where the high beam shuts the spots off.

Red, I actually surprised all my friends over the years with my courtesy towards other drivers.
Driving corporate vehicles for many years must have been the cause.
