Miles per gallon

Hi all.

Yesterday I filled up and figured I was getting 30 mpg. What are you guys getting for mpg.
Truthfully I cant remember from last year. Did some mods this winter and was wondering if I was in the ball park.

Thanks
Jeff

1600 stock should be closer to 40 than 30 mpg if it is mostly highway miles.

The mileage on these bikes really depend on your riding style. If you get on the hwy and cruise between 55-65, without much stopping and going, you'll get 46+mpg. If you doing a lot of riding around town, with lots of stops and goes you'll get a lot lower. Also the cold temps don't help.

I have a spread sheet and I record the info with every fill up. I have gotten as high as 48.5 mpg and as low as 29.5 over the last 16,000 miles.

FYI- I have V&H pipes with Ultimate baffle, Chuckster 7" intake, PC3, Car tire.

If I'm riding fairly easy I'll get 42-46 mpg. But if the left wrist syndrome is acting up and I hold the lower gears longer it'll drop to 30 faster than you'd believe.

I get around 34-35 in the city and 40+ on the highway, unless I'm on the interstate doing 75-80 and that eats the gas and it drops considerably.

Last long trip I averaged 45 mpg loafing. Of course this bike feels like it is loafing at 65mph. I have never checked in town mileage. My bud has a 1500 Classic and we seemed to match gas mileage on the long trips.

what mods did you do? as I have found out very recently and mods demand a dyno tune to get the AIR/FUEL ratio just right to maximize millage and performance. Boys there said mine was off so bad they were surprised it ran at all

I'm pretty consistent at 40-42mpg with V&H pipes, TFI, Chuckster 7" plate w/K&N filter and all plumbing removed.

I've been tracking my mileage since May, 2009 with an iPhone app called Gas Cubby. It gives me all kinds of geeky info, that I love. These are my results with V&H exhaust, TFI, and right-side Caddman w/ K&N filter. I think I'm pretty easy on the throttle.

Average mpg: 34.70
Max mpg: 44.69
Min mpg: 29.04
Total miles: 3087
Total fill-ups: 26
Total gallons: 88.97
Gallons per fill-up: 3.42
Miles per fill-up: 118.73

I get in the low 40's most times, however I like to gauge my fuel consumtion by how many miles between fillups. Most times I get around 180 miles per tank, In cold weather I get as low as 125 miles per tank and my all time best has been 202 miles.
