Swing Arm/Drive Shaft DONE DONE DONE
<s>Based on my success with the mods and maintanence so far I have decided to go ahead and attempt the swing arm, drive shaft maintanence. I have the oil seals and the grease. I hope to be able to get to it over the 3 day weekend coming up.
Got the wheel and the gear box off. Will pull the swing arm tomorrow. Can I use molly grease everywhere or do I need to pick up some chassis grease as well? Can I use the old swingarm seals or do I just need to let it sit until I can get some? Other than that it is going quite well. Got it all apart. It is amazing how the instructions make more sense as you get into these things.</s> GOT IT! DONE! FINISHED! FINI!

Check the rubber boot on the final drive tube near the swing arm for cracks.

Charlie, I've done mine twice now and it's not a big deal. Somewhat tedious, but not difficult. Gadget's instructions will get you through it just fine. One thing Gadget suggests is cutting the brake hose loops on the swingarm. I don't do that. The swingarm will slide down the hose far enough to allow you to rotate the hinged end of the swingarm 90° to the left. That leaves plenty of room to service the bearings and replace the seals. I set my swingarm on a 5 gallon bucket to keep it steady.
Good luck, don't lose the little pin and let us know how easy it was and what a good time you had doing it when you're done.

You can use the Moly grease everywhere on the swingarm and driveshaft. It will work fine for that application.

I thought you had swingarm seals on hand? Or did you reinstall the old seals and forgot about the new ones? You would probably be okay reusing the old seals.

But you were right CJ, this whole swingarm thing is not nearly as bad as the anticipation of doing the whole swingarm thing. So, got beer, will press on.
