They're supposed to be very high mileage tires. When I wear out my current set, I'll be getting 880's.

I used to use them a few years ago but it seems something changed with them. I had poor results with the last couple tires from them. The belts separated in them and the made my bike wobble worse than any other tires Ive used. Ive had good luck with Dunlop Cruisemax and D404's the past few years.

A lot of guys here used them for awhile a few years ago but the company started making them in a different country. I forget where. The quality went downhill after that.
In my opinion Avon Cobras are the way to go if you can afford them.

Your right Tim, the originals were made in Germany, and they were good. Then they switched to Brazil or somewhere in South America and they went downhill.

Thanks for the info, I'll check out the Dunlops and the Avons. Are the D404s Dunlop also or are they another brand

I know that there are many that have had bad luck with the Metz 880's. I am on my
second set and have seen no problems with either. Maybe I have been lucky, in any
event I will be going with the Avons for the next set as I have seen the photos of
failed Metz 880's. I keep checking mine and it's driving me crazy wondering about them.

I know I'll never buy Metzelers again. Dunlops are made in the USA. I just put a set of American Elites on my bike after the original Dunlops went 17,000 miles.

Talked to a Metzeler Rep at the bike show in Panama City Beach they have a new tire out now a 888 that is suppose to give better miles and REPLACE the 880 he would not say nothing about the 880 failing but did say the 888 is replacing it.

I'll give the 888's a look, but it will be a tough sell to get me back to them.
