Support the Marines 3/22/08 in Berkeley

Left for the rally at 7:00am for a 100 mile trek to Bezerkeley. Organizers estimated 800 bikes in attendance. New reports show the event as being effective due to many merchants stating that the many weeks this has been going on now is affecting their businesses, which is our goal. It was a great day visiting each other and temps in the mid 70's! Lots of good noise, burn-outs, and music. Code Pink wisely stayed away on this day.

My father was a jarhead and very proud of the affiliation. He was retired as a Gunny, after 21 years.

As I mentioned before, my family grew up in the Marine Corps and every memory that I have as a child, had a backdrop of that branch of service until he retired in 1969. Of course, prior to his retirement, he had the obligatory visits to Korea and Vietnam.

Many of the people that I knew when I was growing up had a missing relative due to the various conflicts. I knew them because their families stayed near a military base after their deaths.

Our family lived the life of a US Marine Corps family. We knew that when he went to a war zone, we were in danger of a substantial change in our lives. We also knew that other family's parents didn't have to go. sh*tty.

He may be the reason why I'm such an a**hole on occasion, but if you were closer to where I'm at, I would always be there to support you.

I was an Army grunt, not big on war mind you, but the flaming liberals in Berkeley have forgotten what it took in sacrifice by our fallen soldiers to allow them to be flaming liberals. But of course, they are smarter than I, better educated, so they must be right. If they had their choice, they would add Jane Fonda to the list of presidential candidates. What a bunch of liberal dick heads. We've got plenty here in Chapel Hill as well. :(

Maybe how many should be a thread? But prolly only Jarheads would enjoy knowing.

As for that place - We're hoping for thousands of bikes to take up one space each throughout the downtown area. We'll be there all day to impede commerce. Then we'll be using the slogan Code Pink used when they blocked the entrance to the Marine recruiting offices.

"No business as usual"

Yeah Buck.....I am beginning to wonder how you live in that community since you have the right outlook on life.

Valdez, Is that a pic of the back of your vest or someone elses? I've been looking for USMC MC club to join but I would like one with a decent patch and from what I can see that one looks awesome.

No its not mine. I don't fly colors, but The Marines MC have a nice looking patch. Entering Berkely by myself on the 12th, I ended up riding in with about 8 of them, and we got to talking together. I was invited to ride with them, but you have to ride an American made bike to be a member.

Even though, I liked those guys. This picture is not to clear, but shows the colors.

I didn't have a camera Feb. 12th. The credit goes to Zombie....

Try not to throw up when you read the SF Gate article about the event. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl.../BAL5VOTU9.DTL If the link doesn't work, cut it back to www.sfgate.com and scroll down the page to find it. It appears these people have no working brain cells. I believe Valdez did more accurate reporting than the news media.

The businesses might take it more seriously as the weather warms up and bikers can ride in from further away.
