Fall Road Surprises

Out for a ride earlier today on a country road. Came around a curve to a pucker moment....road littered with little green balls that had fallen off a tree overhanging the road (think it was not yet ready pecans or walnuts). Did a little zig zag...must have barley clipped one as popped up and hit me on the back of my right foot.

Could happen aournd here IF

1. We had curves

2. We had trees

Leaves can get you too, Tennessee Traveler doesn't need to worry about that either.

The leaves here are dropping pretty good the last week or two, when they get wet it gets quite slippery on the corners. I know all about those pucker moments.

Fortunately, leaves and "little green balls" don't fall off cacti - which don't overhang the road, anyhow. I just have to dodge junk on the road, tire carcasses, etc.

Fall is here and things do begin to fall. You have to be a little more careful going around curves with a lot of trees. Never know what you will find just around the curve.

Be careful of leaves and pine needles on the road in shady curves. They are generally always wet.

Like spring time there is a lot more farm machinery activity this time of year. Muddy tracks onto the road and slow moving machines that seem to travel with 4 way flashers and give little or no indication before turning left or right into a field are a common hazard on many country roads.

I thought somebody might pick up on that. ::) The quicker I can get out of Montreal and into the country for a ride the better. The last two days riding around the South Western Quebec and Eastern Ontario countryside I encountered lots of big farm machinery, but no country girls big or small.

watch out for those cats running around. Spring, summer, fall, and winter.

One of those farm vehicles almost ran over me right after I dumped the bike last week. Luckily there was enough room for him to stop.
