I saw that on the news yesterday. He is one lucky biker. That is how quick wrecks like that can happen. You don't have much reaction time.

He had shorts on, but was he wearing flip-flops? The guy is lucky, but he is also a moron.

+1

He is obviously lucky to be still alive. Especially with the limited amount of gear he was wearing. A millionth of a sec later or sooner and he could have gone under the tires or flown over the car etc.

Looks like he lost one of his flip flops. For bike riding flip flops need a better retention system.

I didn't look like he even attempted to slow down so he wasn't anticipating anything nor was he covering the ft brake, rear brake, and horn. That car didn't make a 90 degree left, it crosses over into his lane before the bike was in the picture. There is a chance he might have misses it to the left if he had braked and looked for an exit path. Also notice the shadows. He's riding in the late afternoon with the sun to his back so that car was probably looking directly into the sun. I try to avoid riding like that as much as I can, especially on busy streets.

You always have to be aware of your surroundings.

Flip flops, no helmet and him and truck both going pretty fast thru an intersection. ::) Notice the bike behind him apparantly driving more slowly thru an intersection and with full gear on.

Considering the lack of ATGATT this is incredibly lucky. It never fails to amaze me to see someone wearing shorts and flip flops on a bike.

He might be more than sore... he might have internal bleeding; which has killed many motorcylists that appear to be somewhat "okay" after an accident.

Duane Allman (Allman Brother's Band fame) -- similar scenario... minor accident on his bike and appeared to be fine, only to die within hours from internal bleeding that couldn't have been stopped even if he had been in an emergency room.

Anyway... while anyone that is vigilant can get into an accident, this guy apparently was an accident waiting to happen from what I could tell... it was just a matter of time.

Just my two-cents. ;)

I feel for the guy and it is easy to criticize in hind sight but: Shorts, flip flops, a hoodie for a helmet and the fact that it looks like he never saw or anticipated the truck might turn, it sure does make a good "what not to do video"
