One side of Exhaust louder???
So I have a 2000 vn1500 Nomad, FI, with a K&N style air cleaner, it has a Power Commander 2 installed and aftermarket pipes, not too sure who makes the exhaust, BUT right now I'm getting about 28 miles per gallon, and also the right exhaust sounds louder than the left side... I've cleaned plugs and cleaned out the air plenum and yet still ugly gas mileage and the throttle response isn't where i believe it should be.. any clues??

Maybe try disconnecting the Power Commander and seeing how it runs.

My 1500 03 nomad was getting between 29 and 32 mpg, had a certified power commander mechanic check it and he added a patch to the software ( he said most people don't know about the needed patch ) my mpg when to 38 to 42. Love it. Good luck. Ant

I had a power commander for 4 years. I finally gave up and installed a Dobeck TFI. Best move I ever made.

As posted above I would disconnect the power commander and see if the mileage jumps up. If it does (and I suspect it will...dramatically) you know where the problem lies. Then its a matter of tweaking the PC or replacing it with a Dobeck unit. My mileage dropped from average of 40 to 37 when the Dobeck TFI was installed (with Hypercharger intake). Since your running a stock intake with a KN filter you could get away without any fuel processor add on but your bike will be running a little lean. If you go to an aftermarket intake a Fuel Processor is a must.

Hmmmmm. Very interesting. We need to get the word out on this. You should start a thread alerting all to this info.

You can call PC and they will send you an update. They may tell you how to connect on the internet and do it. I did that a few times. Still gave up on the PCIII.
