Now I am glad I waited, I planned on sending my ECU in this winter. Is this really a new version or does the "B" stand for BAC.
Maybe I should wait for the Self Driving version??? All Jokes aside, Thank you Ivan for your Commitment to Continually helping the 1700 run better. I never expected so many updates for a lower volume bike. Or is it smart business? After all, where else can you get these improvements. No competition, in this market.

I think I have the answer to the 9/17 update vs the 4/17 update.
I just spoke to Ivan. He said that he began installing this update around April of this year. He added it and listed it as 9/17 on the website, but it is the same version. As long as your Ivanized ECU is engraved (top left corner) and ends with "C4B" you have the latest update. So if you had it Ivanized after April you most likely have the latest available version still. I just got mine back today after being updated to the latest version. I originally sent it to him in January so I had the old programming. I just installed it and cant wait to get out and try it. I hope this clears up confusion. |

I had mine flashed by Ivan in March, 2016. It came etched FU059.
Reflashed June 2017, it is now etched FU059C. No C4B anywhere, so I guess I'm outdated! My bike runs great, I can't imagine what further improvement is possible.

Better Better
Quote:
It changed almost as much to the Re-Re-Flash as it did the first Re-Flash. So it went from Better to Better,Better! Biggest changes for me - there was a stumble at a certain RPM - It's better if not gone in new flash. Smoother at all speeds. Better MPG at 70-80 MPH (Not that I would ever ride that fast). When I got this flash - Ivan told me he retuned it to accept a wider variation in Premium Fuel. (ie: Works better on more brand variants) Biggest downside - Where I could run Mid-Grade with first Flash - the second Flash runs so much better on Premium that that's all I run now. |

Got mine today
I waited until my 2014 Nomad was broken in and took the hour drive down to Ivan’s to get his flash for my ECU. All I can say is WOW! The real 1700 has been unleashed. My wife and I put 170 or so miles on it.
The low speed bogging and twist to response delay was gone. The deceleration popping, the 5th gear cruising vibrations, and the engine surging were all gone. I’m not to sure about engine temp as it was below 60 degrees and I was kinda hoping the engine would be hot. I reset the mpg after the install and just with 170 miles it went from the 37-38 I always get to 41-42 but I will see better with more miles. The motor itself runs so much smoother it is amazing. The engine pulls through every gear smoothly and effortlessly. Low speed maneuvering is no longer a stressful task. The bike responds as commanded; making parking lots easy. Even riding on the street the bike feels so much better. The loss of surging and throttle delay makes it much more stable through turns and in traffic. My wife said she could feel the difference in the ride as well. I have to thank Ivan for releasing the true potential the Vulcan is capable of. I could not be happier with my new bike. |
